My internet just got a sudden jump boost out of no where?

I'm using AT&T U-verse (commonly known to have issues) but here's what I'm not understanding.

My DL speed is 12mbps and my UPLOAD speed is 0.75

Common issues with my modem are sometimes the connection likes to drop down to (5mbps download speed) but today it decided to jump up to 30-40mbps (I only noticed this because I was re-installing the Elder Scrolls Online BETA launcher)

After it jumped up to 40mbps the game downloaded within about 10 minutes (which was crazy fast) but can anyone please explain how my internet just got a sudden jump boost? I would love to have a 40mbps download speed.

  • Could you please stop spamming the oculus general forum, to discuss things that have nothing to do with oculus?
  • I'm moving to the lounge. Please post threads in the correct sub-forum. Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing. Usually i download to 2Mb/sec maximum but with the Elder Scrolls online launcher i had a crazy speed.

Probabily is their launcher that is amazing

At least I'm not the only one  I'm wondering if it may just be a glitch?
  • I saw the same and figured it out pretty quick. You aren't downloading at those speeds, you are moving files at that speed. Its like its unpacking and the rate its transferring files out is the speed you are seeing.

This actually happened to me a month ago, I go though Centurylink my DSL box has always had a connection of 1756KBPS and out of no where it jumps to 2272KBPS. Yes I know it's slow but that's literally the fastest internet I can get in my entire city of 110k people in MT. Most powerful\best country in the world and were stuck with crappy internet speeds.
