Why do you need answers "quick"? Can't you just return the TV to the store if there's a problem? Check the manual to verify if it supports 4k resolution.

Anyways, try connecting your computer to the TV while using 4k resolution and see if that works. The problem with your 4k video files might be that it isn't encoded in a format that the TV recognizes.
  • Also, how is this related to Oculus, or even VR in general? Maybe find a Sony forum?
  • It's probably not the resolution that's the problem. Check to make sure the file format and codec used on the video is supported by your TV. I don't know anything about your particular TV but usually an MP4 file with the H.264 codec is widely supported.

    Why not?
A lot more interesting than the garbage that's taken over this site lately.
It's turning into an absolute farce.
  • In any case, the thread is in the "off-topic" section so you can discuss whatever (within the rules).
  • Ok, my bad, I just use the 'active topics' list and didn't notice what section the thread was in, sorry.

I use a usb stick to play stuff on the TV in my bedroom. The guys are right about the format. Find a format that you know works (try mp4 w/ h.264) and try a 1080p video in that format. Then try a 4k vid when you find a codec that works. Keep in mind that even a 1080p tv will probably play a 4k video and just downscale it.

If you really think it's not actually a 4k screen the best bet would be to connect your PC to it, but I'd go with the codec being the problem.
  • The 4k video was mp4. The stickers on the top left of the tv say 1080p. And i will try to connect my laptop once i find the hdmi cable
  • What's the exact model number? I had a look on Sony's site and all the 900 series seem to be 4k. The closest to W900 I could find was X900C, which is 4k.

Maybe your laptop doesn't support 4k? Don't forget you need an HDMI 1.4 or higher cable.

Edit: Just found a KDL55W900A which is only 1080p. :?
