New Build for Oculus - Suggestions welcome

Here's my logic:

CPU - 6600K is probably the best value for money at the high end. The 6600K can overclock up to 4.5ghz if desired.

CPU Cooler - I'm using an Evo 212 CPU cooler now and it works well. I don't really want to get into liquid cooling unless I have to. From most reports the 212 air-cooling works just as well as the H60 liquid cooling.

RAM - 8GB is fine for now, but RAM is cheap and 16GB helps future-proof. The G.skill V DDR4-3000 series hits the sweet spot of bandwidth per dollar. I'm open to other brands.

OS (Win 10) on the SSD and nearly everything else on the 1TB 7200 hard drive.

I will use my EVGA GTX 970 for now. If pascal blows it out of the water, this system is well positioned to support an upgrade.

Fractal Design R5 - Nice elite case with filters. My current Antec 900 can't keep up with the dust and fur generated by our household.

Cool build.

CPU - Not bad, but the 6700K is only $50 more. Why cheap out?

CPU Cooler - I'm using the Cooler Master Hyper D92 and I love it. It replaced a cheap water cooler (Corsair Hydro H55) which died after a year. Honestly, I think I get better temps with the air cooler.

RAM - Yes 16GB is a good number. 8GB will suffice for gaming, but the extra RAM definitely helps in Windows or if you are doing any sort of production/game dev work on the system.

OS - Yeah, Windows 10 is nice.

GPU - A GTX 970 should be fine, and I'm not sure it's worth upgrading right now as not much needs more.

Case - Love the minimal design.

Motherboard - Seems expensive, but does look nice.

I'll look into a 6700K but on PCpartpicker it's over $150 more.
Are you suggesting a 6700 over a 6600K?

Mobo is expensive. The only big improvement (for me) is that the m5 has fewer front USB 3 ports. I find that builds with a bare-bones mobo have more gremlins than builds with a higher-end board. IMO you get what you pay for, and I can afford the extra bit of money in this case. Plus it's shiny and red.

MSI m7 is enroute.
Still holding off on the 6600K, 16g 3200 g.skill ddr4, and the Fractal case.

If anyone can suggest better please do! I will gladly consider arguments for replacing any of these parts!

I was going to suggest an M.2 SSD, but you're reusing a previous one.
I went for Corsair ram, but my mobo only clocks it at 2926 instead of 3200, so G.Skill might be better after all.

Yeah, Tom's Hardware tested g.skill with the m7 and anything above 3400 (?) had issues meeting spec. They were able to OC up to 4.5 with a 6600K - stable. I don't plan to go that route, but it's nice to know there is overhead stability with the parts I'm buying.

Got an R5. Nice case. Door a bit flimsy, just be 'careful'. And it's relatively compact (compared to my old P280). Takes only ATX and below. Also have the Enthoo Pro.

Check the USB3 ports. More expensive mobo tend to have more ports. Something mid-range like Asus Ranger.

Cooler, well even cheap coolers are very good. The case can take any cooler, make sure the RAM does too (low profile). I like Thermalright and Noctua. Currently using a Dark Rock 3 (free with mobo). But anything with a good fan.

Wouldn't worry too much about memory OC. Gains are marginal.

Mobo is an MSI m7. USB3 ports are not a problem :)
I'm going with a set of g.skill ram with heat spreaders, but they look low profile enough to be used with an evo212 cooler.

I don't plan to open the door of the R5 very often, but thanks for the warning about the door.
Mostly I'm just interested in the filters because my dogs have turned the inside of my current Antec 900 into the ancient ruins of Egypt.

Memory at 3200 is a bit of a sweet spot. Any higher and I'm paying big $$$ for marginal gains. Then again, going down doesn't save me much since RAM is so cheap to begin with.

I'm not forced to order for a month yet, so I'll see if anything changes price-wise between now and pulling the trigger.

Hi guys! I'm ssory that i write here, but i didn't know where should i write my post :) . So I attached a picture and I think it will be cool if Oculus will transformed to a helm. It is like in MMO Sword Art online but with Oculus. It is just my oppinion as an artist. And it will be also awsome if Oculus will have only one connect cable to the PC, it actually means that mini PC that suggest glasses have to be integrated to the helm on the back side. I think you already work on the size problem, but it will be perfect if a distance between display and lenses will less then it now. But it also means that it will has anothe focus and it need bigger or stronger lenses. Even if it biegger means uncomfortable look, stronger - bad for eyes. So what if we will use two smaller displays?
