Yes.

This is OculusVR's fault, and not anything to do with shipping new tech to Russia.
Totally just OVR deciding that they're going to alienate that one country.

Where did you get that from?

I know that the shipping problem is only temporary and that they're working to resolve it (but it already led to this), but there's still a whole bunch of international barriers, and the first and most obvious one is the language - official website is korean and english only, which means that >95% of people who weren't born in Korea or english-talking country won't be able to use it.

For now it's irrelevant, but in the future it's a must-have to include as many languages as possible for at least front page, FAQ and Order pages.

And yes, FYI, I already own the Rift.

We did have some problems shipping to Russia, and a lot of kits were lost forever. That's why we had to suspend delivery. However, I think we found a solution to the problem. There is a good chance we will open up shipment to Russia shortly. I would not recommend ordering from this unofficial reseller. Please wait for Oculus to open up shipment again. Thanks.

Given that they're up to start open sellings (implying there will be plenty of devices available) in just a month, I think they could be setting up manufacturing lines to produce their own counterfeit Rifts, but who knows. If that's the case, knowing that they already ripping off insane amounts of money, I'm positive that units will be assembled from very cheap devices and will suffer from low quality and malfunctions, giving the Oculus Rift bad name in Russia.

Knowing such tendencies in CIS countries, you should really expect it. Juse see an example: the only NES available in Russia was Dendy - a Chinese hardware clone, and obviously, all game cartridges were pirate versions.

Good. I wouldn't be surprised if this "reseller" just happened to get your shipment. This type of business is despicable.

you're better off just internationally shipping one off of eBay for $400 haha.

Yeah that's what I did. Besides a couple of dust specks on the screen and oil fingerprints on the lens, it was in perfectly good condition.

I know the author of city car driver game wanted to get one, its a fantastic car simulator game which would greatly benift with rift, the using public begged him for the support he ordered one but it got held at customs and he is not going to get one untill its offically sold in russia but if its 100% going to be avaialble via this route i will ping him on his forum. I think the thread is here, its a great driving game I actually bought a logitech g27 just for it and was looking at getting a track ir untill I stumbled on the rift.

If you are finding any great authors of AMAZING rift workable games, and they are having issues getting a rift...

Get some one, put them on a plain with a rift.. and HAND DELIVER IT... The result is that the VR community will get seeded and preferenced to the Oculas, tools and community, PLUS when the offical version ships there will be a huge list of great games.

The way it is now city car driver which is being optimized for steam green light will have the rift support.

Im in a ranting mood and had a cocholate milkshake on the way home so have some typing energy :-)
