One way time travel opportunity. Would you go?

That's easy. I'd go back to 1796 and stop the Spanish from discovering a large natural port on the southern Pacific coastline of North America. The area would never have been colonized by Spain. The city of San Francisco would never have come to be. The San Francisco 49ers wouldn't ever have been created. Which means the Seattle Seahawks would dominate the NFC West unchallenged as God intended.

It's a no-brainer. I wouldn't need to travel forward in time again to see the games, because I already know the outcome.

I would need to do some research first. I would figure out a few significant jumps in stock prices in recent history and then go back just far enough to get rich. This would also work with sports-ball betting (thanks Biff!) I suppose. Because it is a one-way trip, going back only a short amount of time would limit the impact on my real life (just hide out until the day my past-self left, then my time-travelling-self could come back and take his place - nobody would even know I was gone).

I have infinite one-way time travel opportunities and I'm wasting several writing up this comment.

Could we bring stuff with us? I would download and print off every single Nikola Tesla patent, Thomas Edison patents, Max Planck, Isaac Newton, etc. then I would go back to before all of the inventors were born. I would then patent all of my inventions one at a time and become the greatest mind that walked the earth.

The consensus among theorists, is that it would be be a different universe, or time/space. That it would have it's own path, and this one would continue. (regarding going back and making changes)

That this may or may not affect the 'ultimate' lifespan of the given universe in front of us now.

What exactly is infinity, anyway?

Is our mental reach, limit, and conceptual logic surrounding such...valid or invalid in this case?

I would go to May 12th, 2154.

I'd go a couple of years to the past, get a 9DOF sensor, a phone screen and a couple of lens from Ebay, make a prototipe VR thingy, show it to Carmack and start a Kickstarter :twisted:

I think if I had the opportunity to go I'd choose to go to September 17th, 2029. Assuming I'd go 'missing' during that time, and appear at the time in the future I'd first sell everything I owned, prepare a bug-out bag (you know, just in case!) with a sleeping bag, food, medical pack etc. I'd then go and hopefully if civilization is still here and relatively stable I'd then go and rent somewhere and build my life back up in the future. I'd open another bank account and deposit money into it just in case they don't accept 'old' cash in that time as well.

As a 49ers fan, I am deeply honored that the only viable way the Seahawks will win the NFC West is by completely altering history as we know it.

But honestly, I am scared of the Seahawks this year.
