You don't need a firewall or anti virus, just stay away from porn and warez and you'll be fine.  If you MUST access that, use Avast and a front end called "Windows 10 firewall control"
  • I'm pretty sure Facebook, and by extension the Oculus site, is well protected.
  • dimskies, if you are concerned about security, then this could be relevant for you. I have mentioned before that I stopped using antivirus, but now I am not sure if that is the right approach or not! I'd say just go with your instinct, you could always try out a few different programs. Let me know if I can help more.
  • I found Avast to be the best, low system resources and works well. Also, Malware-bytes can sometimes find stuff that Avast missed. They can both be run at the same time. I'd advise getting the paid version as they allow real-time monitoring (very key) rather than having to scan manually.

People telling you anti-virus is not needed are misguided, or don't actually realize what's happening behind the scenes on their computer. I've been hit with drive-by attacks visiting seemingly legit websites like ign.com, where a browser ad network was compromised, and tried connecting to some shady foreign servers. If you didn't have anti-virus, you would never have noticed this happened and who knows what those hackers are doing.
  • antivirus is like a virus magnet if you have it in your system virus will come to you, plus it is heavy that eat a lot of memory. I am confident with Microsoft system antivirus.

I run scans every few weeks just to check if anything slipped through.
