[PC] What is a good way to store 3.5" hard drives?
Hi PC people
I have a bunch of 3.5" inch hard drives that I want to store long term, without having them connected to a computer. I no longer have the original plastic retail packaging for these drives. How can I store these safely?
I considered just putting them into a shoebox. But I don't think that's safe. I also think it is not good to stack them on top of each other.
I tried googling keywords like "hard drive storage container" but I think that because hard drives are storage devices themselves, google gets confused about what it is I am actually asking for.
I know I can buy a bunch of external enclosures, but that might be too expensive and wasteful since I probably won't use the USB interfaces on them.
I thought about just buying a cheap ATX case with no PSU and mounting the drives into the bays, but there might not be enough bays for the amount of hard drives I want to store, and it is wasteful that the area where the psu and motherboard goes would go unused.
Do you have any ideas?
