PRICE POINT REVEALED....and it's horrible.

I agree so much, i just remembered the original price point to be about $300, also i live in france and to get this product i need to waste about $800 usd. I could have afforded $400/$450 but what the heck? Sorry oculus but if the VR is this expensive then it's not for me, even if i have a perfect pc for it and was interested in the company since the start...

Don't feel too bad buddy.. with the crappy exchange rate, GST and shipping, I'm at $956.45 Canadian :shock: . This doesn't include customs and brokerage fees. I'm expecting to be over the $1000. mark. I had the wife prepared for $350 USD so I have some 'splaining to do! :o

Ironically, I've been waiting for these for years and it's just released as our dollar hits a twelve year low :cry:

So bottom line, yes, I'm disappointed but I ordered them anyway. I hope they are worth the domestic anguish! :lol:

Why is it when you buy it in EU the prise is 699 £ = 750,86 $ but the prise that you show at the front page is 599 $ ???

At least you guys can buy it, i was waiting like more than a year impatiently to have the oculus in my hands, but no shipping to brazil :/

I'm guessing Oculus pays the relevant taxes, so when you receive the parcel at the door you dont need to cough up more to the delivery driver. That's like ~20% tax for EU.

I've had the DK1 & 2 showing support for Oculus and the Rift. I was in great anticipation of the Consumer Version. Then I find the price is close to AUD$1000 by the time it gets to us here in Australia!

I worried when I saw the commercial partner Facebooks joining the party. It looks like I was right and the green eyes of greed has appeared. Oculus/Facebooks may have shot themselves in the foot with this announcement of the price for the consumer version of Rift. A lot of people are grumbling and talking with their feet. Bye bye to my dream!

Crazy price point. No subsidised hardware here then? I'll be waiting for the HTC/Valve vive to release their price. You get the motion controllers and a 15ft square range, oh and a front facing camera that can be used to click to 'real world view' [no more lifting up the headset to orientate].

I am so horribly disappointed in Oculus. They had it all. They had the hype, they were able to keep it going for YEARS to finish their product, they even sold out to facebook and still managed to keep the hype... And now this.

I was looking forward to finally be able to buy the finished and polished version of their gear, I was with oculus from the very beginning, awaiting their every move in extatic anticipation. Now I don't know what to say anymore.
They managed to kill me as an early fan. I created this account only to be able to tell them this:

I will not buy your product. Your pricing policy is there only to take advantage of us. You practically gave them away for 250$ or 300$ in the beginning, always telling us: but it's not the finished product, it will be buggy, better wait for the finished thing. Now I did my waiting and waiting and waiting and... you doubled, almost tripled in price. 761$
Guess you didn't want to have a world where most pc-gamers had your product, make your money in licenses, and newer versions every few years. You had to cash out on us now. Guess FB will get their money's worth.

I got a high-end pc just to plug your gear into. I will not spend half of what a good high-end pc cost for vr-goggles.
