Not sure if it relates, but some time ago I was thinking about the big issue of VR input, and how we want that VR input to match real life activity to reduce nausea and increase immersion...
And what I was thinking was : If I could control my environment with a headset, I would want to control it with a headset, not continue to do it manually for old times' sake.
I don't want to get up to change channel, I'm fine with the TV remote.
I don't want to go pick up the telephone, I'm fine with carrying a smartphone on me, and voicing a request to that smartphone instead of having to type it. In fact it would be even better if I didn't need to carry a smartphone to voice a request (cybernetic implant, retinal display screen...).
If every door in my house was an automatic sliding door that could identify me, I would be fine with each door sliding open in front of me.
If I could steer my chair around, I wouldn't bother walking.
If I could teleport, I wouldn't bother driving a car.
Basically if I could do anything by just waving a technological wand in a certain way, I would wave that wand in a certain way to get anything done...
That's my super human ability through technology for you : Eye/Mind/Voice/Gesture control, as the natural way to interact with everything.
Or extreme laziness, whatever ^^°
