Replacement 3S for Quest 2

Dear Meta Team,

I’d like to suggest a trade-in program for Quest 2 users looking to upgrade to the Quest 3. Many of us have invested in the Quest ecosystem and would love an affordable way to transition to the latest hardware. A trade-in option directly through Meta could incentivize more users to upgrade while keeping them engaged in your platform.

Some potential benefits:

  • Encourages Quest 2 owners to stay within the Meta VR ecosystem.
  • Provides an eco-friendly way to recycle older headsets.
  • Makes upgrading more financially accessible.

Are there any plans for such a program? I think this would be a win-win for both Meta and the community.

  • Meta logistics are woefully unable to handle even the normal returns process for faulty headsets. Can you imagine how much worse it would be if they had trade-ins as well? Given that each would have to be evaluated and a value assigned, it would be labour-intensive (read: expensive) and I really don't see what would be in it for them. Potentially good for users but they are already getting new headsets at roughly cost-price so, again, what's in it for Meta?

Well, I don't think that they should take ALL returns/trade-ins, but in my case, I have a perfectly functional headset that has some software issues. I contacted consumer support, and they recommended me submit a forum (which I did). There is nothing I can do to fix mine, but because the headset I will be receiving (as a replacement) would cost the exact same amount as the quest 3S, shouldn't there be an option? I don't think they should take all trade-ins, but rather a select few.

But how would they decide which to take, without taking them all and rejecting some? Just trust the owners word about the headset?
