Deluxe Paint was awesome. It was made by EA, back when they were cool. :)
I bought the paint program Brilliance. It cost me $300, which back then as a teenager was a major hit (the Amiga 500 itself cost me $700). Three weeks later Brilliance 2 was released for $99. I'm still pissed off by that.
If you want a modern version of Deluxe Paint, have a look at Pro Motion. It's directly inspired by Deluxe Paint and is made for pixel art and game graphics (it's got onion skin animation, tile maps, repeating image views, etc).
