Severe Issues with GTX 970 - Please Help

Hi All,
I recently upgraded to a Asus Strix GTX 970. I previously had a 760 GT, which was doing well, but I wanted silky smooth 75fps. Anyways, my performance is all over the shop, and am trying to work out what the problem/problems are.
TimeRifters with DX11 slows down all over the shop, dropping from 75 fps to a a low of mid 30's, and this is on the first level. It's improved when using DX9 (most of the time at 75-100fps).
Previously, the old demo on DK1 with my old gfx card would run it at hundreds of frames a second...i think.
Lunar Flight is totally unplayable, runs at 10-15fps. Again, in DK1 days, this was smooth.

Does anyone else have this card? and if so, would the version of the Oculus Runtime version make a difference?
Also, what drivers are people using? I will provide exact specifics of benchmarks etc when I get home.
I am simply curious why my upgrade seems far more like a downgrade :/

  • Did you turn Aero (desktop composition) off? Having that disabled can cause low FPS.
  • I had it disabled, I recall reading elsewhere that enabling Aero would cause performance issues.
I`ll try enabling it tonight, and re-run tests.
Other than that, i`ll make a big chart and start testing driver/firmware permutations.
At the moment, I just want Lunar Flight to work smoothly :( I loved that game back in DK1 days
  • Seems my issues were solved by a driver update to 344.45, and using extended mode with rift as primary display.
FPS in timerifters went from 20-55fps, to 250-400fps.
Crazy that it would make such a difference.
Guess i`ll have to use OBS, as not having an any mirroring is terrible, especially since I most the time use a rift with my housemate.
