You have to face the facts that without the 'sheeple' then we wouldn't have most of the thing that we take for granted. It's economy of scale. But that's not to say these things can't be sold to the masses and be capable of great things, you just have to hide the fact.
Usually many people are happy with the end result. However, its the decision to change something for the masses that can lead to mistakes. The fans of the genre or long term followers of the product are the ones who usually suffer.
When it works out, in hindsight we can say look what came out of it! You did not include even one specific example so, I can only get an idea of what you mean on a very broad scale.
Any thoughts on how the masses may influnce a change in the Rift or ?
