Star Trek Continues - original fan remake

Hey guys, I just saw this fan remake of the original Star Trek series. They took Apollo, the real actor from the original "Who Mourns for Adonais?" episode, and he is back on the Enterprise with new people playing the crew members. I guess they are trying to finish the 5 year mission the original show never finished. All I can say is they did an incredible job.

The guy playing Kirk also directed it and he did do well that it felt like I watching the 1960's version during most of the episode. His mannerisms were so spot on I actually felt like William Shatner was in the film. The sets, film cuts, and camera angles were very accurately recreated. The guy who plays Apollo was so good I felt like giving him a standing ovation at the end of the movie. Also, the actor who played Scotty is the son of the original actor who was Scotty and he did a terrific job. The only characters I didn't like was the new guy playing Mccoy plus this Sulu seemed really wimpy, the original Sulu rocked.

Anyway, the whole episode is free on a kickstarter page that they created so they can get support to create more episodes. If you are a fan of Star Trek, even if you don't donate, I suggest you guys check out the video because it was truly amazing work.

The set design and costumes/make up gave it a nice feel. On the technical side I would say nice job.

    however

Whether it is supposed to be parody or a serious emulation of the 60s show, I could not get over Kirks voice, it has this high pitch undertone to it, he doesnt quite sound confident and decisive. The rest of the voice acting was mediocre as well. I also do not think the actor who played Spock fit the look very well.

I am not a Trekkie, just a fan with an average amount of base knowledge to formulate my opinion with, I have of course seen my fair share, the 60s show, every major motion picture release (except Star Trek 1 which bored me ) and quite a bit of Next Generation episodes.

Anyway, just giving an honest evaluation, I'd be intersted in hearing other opinions.

thanks for the post, always intersting to see remakes of classics no matter what the calibur of acting skill/production budget is
