The best way to help Oculus, Branding Marketing Power

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/31/opinion/brooks-the-romantic-advantage.html?_r=1&

In the race to be the world’s dominant economy, Americans have at least one clear advantage over the Chinese. We’re much better at branding. American companies have these eccentric failed novelists and personally difficult visionary founders who are fantastic at creating brands that consumers around the world flock to and will pay extra for. Chinese companies are terrible at this. Every few years, Chinese officials say they’re going to start an initiative to create compelling brands and the results are always disappointing.

USA and China recently entered a solar manufacturing war, USA industry fell first, but China is now beginning to experience a collapse in thier sector. This would be a good industry for our government to get behind and promote "american exceptionalism" to sell to the voting public. I have friends in DC and one at the pentagon that could get behind this govern support of the industry soley to prevent China theft.

Posting how Apple and GOOG spend the majority of thier money/time perhaps fighting software patent litigation. Where I saw IBM from the inside spend 70% on marketing. Talking about issues of nation state trade barriers, cyberwarfare, etc etc

Collapsing of possible world economies, etc etc This article gives a good lesson for Oculus to learn (Kevin Williams - I hope you chime in here)

The company can perhaps survive it all, iribes wife divorcing him (LOL!), china stealing IP, US government and China starting trade war issues etc etc, if OCULUS the BRAND captures enough hearts and mind, everything else can go by the wayside. The BRAND alone is what Oculus really HAS, and will keep them relevant going into the future. What do people think OCULUS can do to keep thier BRAND rising and valuable. Already some have commented they are not giving enough attention to smaller independent developers (gerald) Rob Myers criticizing certain licensing issues and complications, myself on issues regarding the kickstarter shenanigans, all taken apart, nothing serious, but all these little cuts begin to add up and the bleeding maybe becomes too great?

Give Oculus some good Feedback with the article above laying up the context, thier IMAGE in the public mind's eye, their BRAND, what must they do to protect it and grow it? If they choose to do like IBM and send 70% into marketing, where best to utilize those funds and in what way? The one thing China can't STEAL from them if China so chooses is the brand.

I always made it a POINT whenever possible to avoid anything APPLE most of my life, because I didn't like steve jobs or his BRAND. When Steve Jobs got kicked from the company and the Pepsi guy took over, then I was more willing to buy apple stuff, but thats just me.

  • MAC V PC, who gets the girl? LOL! Why don't you creative souls make some OCULUS RIFT versus other technologies/HMD's with this as a template, give us all a LOL and help marketing efforts eh?

LOL! This was great! Put the OCULUS HMD on the skinny chick, and the Sony HMZ on the fat chick.

Alternative energy sector is in real trouble.. It has been mainly due to wrong policies of USA which has lead to downfall of the solar industry.
  • Obama said many times that us energy was job 1. How does that make his administration look? It takes a lot of power to run a quad GPU video card to run two hi res screens for an hmd eh? How many games can valve or oculus sell if no one can afford electric bills? Many saying they had wiring or power boxes that couldn't take 1000 watts. Lol!
