Updates on DK2?

Hey guys, I'm posting this in the OT forum because I feel bad asking it at all.

Have there been no updates whatsoever on how things are coming along with DK2 since the initial announcement? I've been looking all over the forums and the rest of the website and it seems like not a peep has been uttered.

I hope this means things are running on schedule, I think I remember them saying late July when I ordered mine on the first day they made it available.

Thanks for any information.

  • Basically that! The first shipments had ought to be shipping soon. You'll receive an email before it does, so you can be ready for when it does actually arrive. I'm interested on the graphics and cpu horsepower the dk2 is going to need to play games at reasonable speed.

Oculus Rift and computer Specs go hand and hand for me. I want to jump the gun and purchase the GTX 780 TI to upgrade my GTX 590 but knowing that Nvidia Maxwell 20nm tech is just around the corner has kept me from any purchases yet. The Oculus Rift CV1 is going to take a powerhouse rig to run at a constant 60FPS knowing that the CV1 will have a higher resolution then 1080p. I believe that CV1 release date is highly contingent to the newer\faster graphic cards soon to be released the market. I imagine the CV1 will be released when Sammy 1440p and GTX 880 finally show their face.
  • Yeah, I'm in even worse shape for PC hardware because my current PC gaming obsession is Star Citizen. Running a game with system requirements this high on the Rift CV1 is going to HURT!

Still, it shouldn't be as bad as when I was running my eyefinity/Nvidia surround triple monitor setup at 5760x1200! I ditched that setup when my DK1 was on its way.

The Star Citizen "Arena Commander" module is the most fun I've had with the Rift yet!

I too am trying to hold out for a little longer on the video card upgrade. I just did a CPU upgrade that will hopefully hold me over for a few more months.

I'm hoping for a GTX 870 as my next vid card, though despite my strong preference for Nvidia I've been nearly talked into an R9 290.
