Upgraded, Need new CPU cooler

Hey all Just upgrade my PC to an; MSI Z97-GD65 Motherboard and an Intel i7-4990k 4.0 ghz and I want a CPU cooler. This is the first time I have decided not to just stick to the stock cooler and want something with a little more pizzaz. But im not good with checking for spacing and ive read a lot of people buy a CPU cooler and it covers Ram slots etc with their motherboards, So for those more experienced that I. What are my options. The one i want is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835214041

Will this one fit my MOBO and not cover any slots?

Ive pondered Water coolers but i hear some folks get a leak and end up frying parts like their GPU, seems risky? Plus I just got my MOBO and CPU two days ago and it seems like that water cooler needs you to take your MB out to attach. I know i sound lazy haha but dont really want to do that till i upgrade my case
  • Most high-end air coolers (like the one you linked too) also require a backplate (so you must pull out your mobo unless you have a case with an open space around the back of the CPU).

My case opens from both sides so im hoping i wont have to remove the motherboard. My only worry is that i have a mid sized atx and apparently a lot of these coolers call for a full sized

A little update. I ended up getting the CPU cooler i had above. And luckily i did not have to take the motherboard out. Since there was an area open to the backside of the CPU on my case. My new case that is coming also has this cutout so in the future if i decide to switch to water cooling than I shouldnt have to remove the MB.
