USB Flight controls?

So I started playing Kerbal Space Program and realized it'd be a lot more fun with some actual controls instead of a mouse and keyboard.

What sort of controllers do people use for flight sims? I really want a throttle for instance. And how much does that sort of project run someone?

I can get you started on a great set of programmable and rugged CH Products, Saitek or Thrustmaster gear. Let me know how much you want to spend and expect things to range from $500 on the high end to $25 bucks on the low, plus shipping.

As woodsman said, there's a big range. However, any model with an independent throttle is likely to run you at least $50, and the current Saitek stick and throttle entry model is is about $130, while the higher end models like this Thrusmater design based on the A-10 controls is about $430. You can literally spend as much money as you want though, since there are all sorts of add on flight controls, like rudder pedals and more complicated multi engine throttles, etc.

    It's an addiction.
  • I saw CH Products come up when I did a quick Google search, however as a university student who's just thinking of dabbling $100 and less would be what I'd be looking at to start I think. Any suggestions in that range?

Sidebar: I'm also thinking this could be a good project to learn how to do some woodworking and electronics to make some panels with blinky lights haha :)
