Virtuix Omni on tv Show: "Shark Tank"

The Virtuix omni made it to the tv show "Shark Tank" where people take their ideas and show them off to the big investors, who've made millions, etc, doing entrepreneurial stuff.

The Virtuix guys showed up and they asked for 2 million at 10% (valuing their company at 20 million). The guys were essentially laughed at because the overarching thing, was they didn't think people would actually use the omni on a consistent basis, for one, and 2, they think of gamers as fat, and lazy.

What are your thoughts. Do you think that the stereotype the 'sharks' have of gamers is correct to any degree?

  • I think the Omni is fine and will do well.

But overall, that it represents a beginning, and it will be an evolution.

That Jan is in the 'first step-ground floor' position in that particular game/race, and is thus well positioned to evolve.

As for the show itself (IMO and IME):

The shark tank folks want quick money, drug money, arms money, stock market money. They want to hitch their wagon to a free ride (money..over..time, that's their aim-maximization of that aspect alone). Because of that, because of their underlying inhumanity, their violence and greed toward their fellow man, the inherent sociopathy of the entire show and it's undercurrent it tries to inject into society... I would not even piss in their general direction. I have zero liking or respect for the show, the people on it, or it's intent. It's shit - it's drivel. Same for Dragon's Den or other shows like them.

It's like begging the court king for your right to have/keep the farm, except it is televised and it's a room full of jesters. It is supremely fucked up.

all that being said, If I was Jan, I'd go on the show without even having to spend any time thinking about it. Any publicity, is good publicity. It's the only thing those shows are good for.
