- AnonymousNothing. Vive has some special requirements for store's to carry their product. OVR isn't wanting to play ball with stores atm. I don't know why. I can only look at my emails with HTC and see they greatly outnumber my replies from OVR... which is zero.
- kevinw729Honored VisionaryFollowing the "review" of the original BestBuy relationship - OVR has seemed not to be enamoured with a retail display approach. Obviously this may change once the new marketing and promotion structure is revealed at OC4.
To be frank, I do not think OVR is happy with the publicity that Vive achieves over Rift (getting into the face of players through their commercial and promotional investment) - so this may be an impetuous to do more in retail? - AnonymousThey are teamed up with the biggest retailer in the world
That is not good enough suddenly??
As for steam, this is on steam, Oculus are a company they need and have a right to make money they have their own store.
This has been done to death.
Now wheres my butthurt cream gone?? - Log_a_FrogHeroic ExplorerWho teamed up with the biggest retailer.
Explain this pleaser. - Best Buy has them on-hand, so does the Microsoft Store.
You can also buy the Rift from WalMart:

The biggest retailer in the world, who plays a huge role in causing other retailers to close down their physical stores, is Amazon. They also carry the Rift.
Why on Earth would anyone argue, in the year 2017, that physical stock in a physical store is something to strive for? And to ask that on a VR Forum, where VR is changing the world in a way that proves "virtual items" can supersede physical items... that's just a special kind of irony.
That's like arguing that Steam is going to die unless all of their games exist physically on the shelves at every GameStop :D
I encourage readers to do a quick search of all the retailers closing in 2017; here is just a small preview:- Sears
- Kmart
- J.C. Penny
- Macy’s (68 Stores closing)
- Payless (512 stores closing)
- Radio Shack (1,000 stores closing)
Online retail is the future, and the Rift is available where it matters, at a price that spells doom for the HTC Vive:

Oculus teamed up with Best Buy. And they are closing zero stores thus far. - kevinw729Honored Visionary

Some information for you on why CV1's are not making big impact in retailers:Best Buy is
closing nearly half its Oculus VR demo stations, reportedly due to slow
performancehttps://www.theverge.com/2017/2/8/14550488/best-buy-oculus-rift-vr-demo-station-closure
On a interesting aside - have been visiting a number of US retailers to do some own research on deployment of test booths for VR.
Was in a Microsoft store today and noticed that though they had both Vive and OVR hardware on sale, the Vive was the only system used for customer demos. Funny how MS has totally moved away on this.
While at a BestBuy in a major city recently they only had the CV1 in a dusty glass case - with no VR demo on display! - Stein619ProtegeClassic Americans thinking they're the only ones that exist.
OP has a point. A presence in proper stores worldwide would be good. I'm in Aus and if I wanted VR right now I would have to get a Vive or wait weeks for a Rift.
Our only options are Amazon (means we're trying to order from the same stock as North America) or Oculus (and they've been just fantastic during the sale /s).

Our only options are Amazon
Microsoft sells the Rift to America, but not to Australia. Oculus isn't the only company that has limitations with selling to other countries. And Microsoft kinda runs the world with their OS.
Also, Amazon is the largest online retailer on the planet... and they are based in Seattle, WA. That's in America too B)
Your statement that Americans think we're the only one whom exists isn't very accurate. It's just that all the major players (Amazon, Microsoft, Valve, Facebook, Oculus, Apple, Google) are headquartered in America.- cyberealityGrand ChampionThese are the retailers we are currently working with. Both online and brick and mortar in a number of different regions.
https://www.oculus.com/where-to-buy/ - kevinw729Honored VisionaryYeah, its just a shame that in an example like the Microsoft store that there were no CV1's available to try out, and that VR was represented by the HTC only!
