Just a random thought. We are always told to never use any form of liquid to clean lenses in VR headsets because they have a special coating or whatnot. Given how prone the lenses are to getting sweat and grease on them and then needing to be cleaned, would it not be sensible for designers to make the lenses tougher or use some less fragile coating to begin with
You'd think the same thing about camera lenses, spectacles and anything else with a lens, but here we are. I doubt it's laziness so much as working to a budget with reasonable materials. How exactly do you envisage a less fragile coating?
I clean my lenses with the corner of my tshirt. No damage to any of my headsets so far. 🙂
(Although one of my students wore glasses with my Go and scratched the hell out of one lens, which was a little annoying)
