Why do games developers release their games for consoles first and then to PC?

Consoles are relatively set platforms, so any major bugs with the game itself can be tackled without having to deal with the massive amount of different hardware configurations on PC.

Console gamers are more receptive to DLC because of the lack of mods on console, so some devas wait until all their DLC comes out and then just bundle it in with a Game of the Year edition that also comes out on PC.

PC releases, if done correctly, are the most technically proficient version of a game, so they might take longer to work on than a console counterpart.

Microsoft or Sony might pay for a console exclusive debut, which means that the game's PC release is delayed until that deal has expired.

Finally, some developers are under the assumption that a PC release that was concurrent with a console release would cannibalize their sales in one market. Console is generally released before PC because there is less competition on [Console game development Company than on Steam.
