Why not mount the camera on the front of the VR - PL

I have an idea and I am surprised that is not used in VR.
if I play a simple game and I want to look around freely and use the keys and mouse - I can not see them .
C
amera on the helmet and appropriate software allowing to you to set the view of what we have before us will be grat.
Virtual cockpit - Some people have all the cockpits recreated - but can not see them ( see button or throttle ) must act blindly.
Even if wee paint its green ( joystick , mouse , etc. ) to make it as a reversal of a green screen  . To see in VR  what is real in front of you and  i needed to play. Maby a lot of people they prefer to sit comfortably in your VR to see a desk and looking at ease in the game world.
I know that the issue of power is important to use VR - but placing the camera (s ) would be a good option for the future as computers and software allow such a solution.

I'm sorry for the mistakes in writing . Best regards and wish you a successful product development . I do not have it yet but it is great from what I see .

  • A leaked prototype picture showed a front-camera on the Rift, but it was gone by the time they officially revealed the headset. They must have had problems manufacturing the Rift with it or it was too expensive or something.

Look for "mixed reality" on YouTube.

Then note that it's post-process effect :) you could probably do it in real time though, with a dedicated on-board processor for the chroma-key, couple of cameras, and you need a full scale room environment.

As for a simple camera pass-through like GearVR / Vive, that's pretty trivial, but it's more expenses, still.

I suspect this will become the norm eventually.

If they could have 2 of those cameras some how to give fully stereo look thru that would be great. a Pseudo AR system. They might need to be adjustable as interoccular distance is.

I have no doubt the next iteration of the Rift will have a front facing camera, just as the next iteration of the Vive will have built in headphones.  They're two obvious things both headsets skipped out on in the first generation.
