Why vr won't fail. Worst case scenario.

Vr is here to stay. 3d which isn't anywhere close to vr is said to have been a failed technology but meanwhile u still years after it came out  find 3d at the movies, imax, and on tvs. It didn't die. It has a big enough market share to continue. At the very worst after the vr hype is over it may level off and just exist. But with each hardware generation when the oculus, vive etc. category of headsets become wirless lighter and eventually computor independent the user base will keep growing after each generation.

I thought 3D movies were pretty cool, and sometimes I'd watch them in the cinema. Then we got 3D as just a part of the features of TV (don't most smart tv's now have it as standard?) So yeah, it never really went away, it just become not such a big deal anymore. It was never something I thought would be massive, nor did anyone I knew.

VR is fundamentally different... The problem is just convincing people to try it and see for themselves. I've found that once a person tries VR, the majority of them believe in the technology and are convinced by it. Many expressed interest to buy, but not all (most people I showed was before touch).. And the percentage of people who want VR will keep going up as the technology improves and price comes down.

Sadly, around 60% of people said they know nothing about VR! So there's a lot of work to do yet. I love demoing VR to people though, so I try to do my bit lol. :)
  • Whoa182 your exactly right. It will take time. I love being a vr pioneer that started for me with the gear vr inovator addition that heated up and stopped after 30 minutes or less. At the time I was greatfull  to have something and loved it. I wasn't handy enough to use lets say the oculus development 2 kit.
