- falken76Expert ConsultantI'd run the wires out the back door and use it in my back yard, it's fenced in and I have a large yard. I wouldn't do it in an apartment complex. I wouldn't want my neighbors to learn that I have expensive and very desirable gear. If you decide to do it, get renters insurance first because you'll probably get robbed while you're at work.
- Log_a_FrogHeroic ExplorerYeh true that. Maybe I should move out. I am in a single bedroom unit with the wife
But then again, I just have to reshuffle the couch and table every time as well - DreamwriterRising StarYou'd need to put your computer outside, I guess it might work in the desert or the summer when there isn't moisture.
- jimirilloHonored GuestI've been considering this myself as I have quite a bit more clear space in the garden than indoors. My concern was sunlight affecting the IR tracking (not to mention the constant rain we've had lately).
- falken76Expert ConsultantI'm in the desert here in Az, but there's so much dust... I don't want it getting into my computer case, I'm not worried about the rift and controllers, they're closed. But I do wonder if the super bright sunlight will effect the tracking.
- DanNZNExplorerYou would have to be super careful about sunlight hitting the lenses and burning your screen.
- falken76Expert ConsultantIf sunlight is going to burn the camera lenses then outside is a no go for me. I live in an area that is constantly sunny with clear skies.
- cybernettrSuperstarMaybe in addition to a comfort rating, oculus should give a "space" rating to their games in the oculus store. Some touch games require moving around, while other can be done standing in one place. It seems these latter games should be no problem no matter how small your premises are. Of course, there's always going to be that one game you covet no matter how much space it needs…
- Log_a_FrogHeroic Explorerespecially overhead space
- Sinstalker21Heroic ExplorerI like having mine set-up in my spare bedroom that way I can turn on the ceiling fan if I end up killing things for hrs. and I can wear what i want! Besides outside? There will one day be a video on youtube from a neighbor or passerby as you fight imaginary adds on your lawn. Or worse, they spray you w/ a hose or throw something at you since you can't see them anyway lol.. I wouldn't tempt fate but thats me, lol.
