Ability to Delete Apps from the App Library

Hello,

I reached out to the support team, I tried the basic tech support suggestions, turning my meta quest off and back on again, making sure it was up to date, I even reset the whole headset to factory default… nothing has worked,

My suggestion/purpose for outreach is that, I want to be able to delete apps from my library, and remove them from my ownership. This should be a feature by default, but it does not appear to be the case. Meta support was not able to help and their instructions did not yield any helpful results.

I shouldn’t have to have an App Library cluttered with apps that I don’t use. It should be sleek and clean and filled only with the apps that I’ve tried and actually want to keep, and no the option to “hide” an app doesn’t satisfy me. Hiding means it’s still there, but just in a different category… and that’s not enough.

Some apps are bad and it frustrates me to have to see them in my App Library. iPhones allow you to delete content. Any other electronic device has the option to delete apps from your device and remove them from your ownership and even download history in some cases, as if they were never there.

Despite the insistence from the meta support team, there was no option from the three dots to remove and uninstall the app. There is the option to hide the app, and see details, and that just takes me to the store page.

Please add the ability to delete apps. Or provide an update for the software/headset to delete apps completely from the App Library/account. It’s very annoying to have a cluttered library. And again, I’m not satisfied with the hide option. I want the apps gone!

Thanks.

  • Hi Zirichel 🙂

Actually, the option to remove/delete apps from your library - not from your ownership though -  exists.

Weird thing is....some users have the option, others don't have it.

Sometimes it even happens that users with 2 accounts on one headset, have the option on one account, but not on the second account.😕

I can remove apps from my library, but I don't have the "hide" option anymore.

Oh… that’s interesting. My account is a bit strange. My Facebook account is separate from my “Meta” Quest account, but they are tied together I guess? So maybe the system views them separately somehow. I wonder if that’s the cause of the issue of being able to delete content.

I’d love it if my account could be set as the default or main/owner account and endowed with the ability to delete apps. Seems strange that I can’t do that…

I’m not sure if this was even the right place to create this post, but I appreciate your response and I’d love to see a developer/meta person respond and help me find a solution!

Thanks again for your comment! It was insightful.

Hm, I don't think that's the reason... my Facebook is also not tied to my Meta account.

Beside that..... a Facebook account is no longer required for a Meta account.

  • Which apps are you unable to uninstall? The only one I know of is Horizon Worlds. You can't even clear app data from it anymore. I assume it's because it's Meta's flagship VR app. Much like how you can't really get rid of Microsoft Edge when using Windows, even though you might always us Chrome. I don't particularly like you can't remove it, as many users don't use it, and it takes up gigs of memory storage. Probably something in the Terms of Service that allows them to do this, but not sure. Alot of complaints in Horizon Worlds reviews that address this. I use Worlds the most, so it doesn't really bother me personally.

I didn’t realize that the horizon worlds was so large, but it makes sense I guess. It doesn’t much bother me.

I cant delete any apps. I can uninstall them, but then they just sit there in my App Library and that tends to be annoying. Especially when I like to try out games and then they’re just cluttering my library. Although it’s not like I’ve tried with every app. But I can’t imagine the results would be any different from one app to another, except as you mentioned with the hard coded apps, assumedly.
