Automatic audio balance setting is present on child's profile but not on primary profile

Another bit of Quest UI weirdness. I just discovered today that my daughter's parentally controlled (secondary) profile on my Quest 3 has a setting under "Camera" to "Automatically adjust microphone and game balance". If I toggle this setting to "off", it will show the separate microphone and app audio sliders. Sorry, no screenshot, I couldn't figure out how to send it from my child's account to my main profile, phone or PC.

Strangely however, on my primary profile on the same headset, the toggle to "Automatically adjust microphone and game balance" is completely absent and I only have the separate microphone and app audio sliders (screenshot below). It seems really strange that two different profiles on the same headset don't have the same settings available. I'm on v79.1031 build 5115411.17040.520 (12 Sep 2025).

Is this a bug, or by design?

    That is strange because the feature was introduced back in v74.

    I know Meta like to do staggered feature rollouts but I doubt that is the case here. They will probably tell you to reset the headset and see if that fixes it.

    Sorry I'm not much help here. I did try changing different combinations of my audio settings to see if I could reproduce the issue, but no luck.

    Not on the Q2 and not on the Q3, not on my main account, not on the secondary account.🤷‍♀️

      Hmm. I wonder if your profiles were added before the feature was added to the Meta software. It would be so annoying if we needed to factory reset whenever new software features are added to our headsets. Maybe it's why I still don't have Navigator. I suppose I'll find out when v81 is released. If the v81 update still does not give me Navigator, then I'll have to seriously consider using the software update tool 🤔.

        You can always check for the latest update for your device here.  Looks like you have an interest in the latest software features also, we love that! You can read all about them here so you know what to expect. 

  • Perhaps if I create another profile for myself, it will also have this missing setting. I wonder if there is a safe way to create a new primary profile and delete the old primary profile without having to do a factory reset? I don't think it is justified doing a reset every time we find some quirky bug in the Meta software, we would be resetting the darn thing almost every day if that was the case 😁.

    Edit: no, it looks like it would require a factory reset, which I'm not willing to do just to get an audio setting that is not essential.

      Aaand, it's not only the factory reset.... if you create a new account, you won't have access to your purchases that you made with your current account. 😉
