Can no longer invite or join friends on calls

A couple of days ago after my headset updated, I no longer had the option to invite friends to calls, nor can I join calls or even see when my friends are online. When I go on to ‘People’ the option to invite/chat isn’t there and instead it takes me to the Shop! 
I tried asking a friend using the app chat on my iOS to send me an invite, which they did but when I clicked on it and tried to launch on to the VR, nothing came through on the headset to allow me to do it.

Any ideas would be very much welcomed, thanks

    Hi there, 

    So sorry for the delay in replying. I only just saw the email notification earlier today. We turned on the headset after carrying out a hard reboot yesterday and left it overnight and suddenly the problem seems to have resolved itself, so we didn’t need to try your suggestions in the end.
    Thanks so much for replying, I’ll be sure to save the guidance in case we need it in the future.

    Hey there TheWilmans! We see you are having issues with the Party features of your Quest 2? Setting up a party is quite important, especially when trying to play with your friends, so we would love to review this further and see what we can do for you!

    These issues can happen occasionally when your account loses its proper authentication, and the best solution for that would be these steps:

    1. Turn the headset off
    2. Uninstall the mobile app from your mobile device
    3. Restart your mobile device
    4. Reinstall the application and login
    5. Turn the headset back on.

    This should help make sure the headset is properly setup with your account. Some other steps include turning off the headset for 10-15 minutes before turning it back on. And trying another Wi-Fi network such as a mobile hot spot. Please note that social features such as parties are no longer available on Quest 1 devices.

    Let us know how the steps above worked out, and if you still have issues creating a party, we would love to help out however we can!

      I factory reset my oculus and it’s still not working and I think I lost all my progress in my games too 😡😡😡😡

      Hi so like when i try to join a call or make a call it kicks me out if it instantly how do I fix this?

      Hey reapernick.2024! We see you want to know how to do a hard reboot on your device. Below, we listed steps on how to do so!

       

      1. Remove any unsupported third-party accessories that may affect boot (such as external battery packs, accessories that plug into the USB-C port, etc.).
      2. Hard reboot the headset.
        1. Hold down the power button and volume-down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound.
        2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
          1. Hold the power and volume (-) buttons down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
          2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
          3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

      Also, we noticed that you are having some trouble joining calls on the People app. Let us know if a hard reboot helps or not, so we can take a closer look into this if needed!

        Hello when i Call someone or they call me it’s just loading and then it says error try again later or something this started happening yesterday and it is still not working

  • Hi again yes I’ve restarted mi headset and done everything I know I’ve struggled to make it work but no success

  • Yes I do still have this problem I’ve been trying to investigate a little more on to make it work again but again no success

  • Yeah I can't accept my friends call on vr I press it then it doesn't put me in the call with my freind then when I call them they keep saying there's an error it was working when I got my vr headset

      • Check for updates for your phone, the Meta Quest mobile app, and the headset. 
      • Restart the headset, the Meta Quest mobile app, and your phone.
      • Check your network connection or reboot your router. 

      We'd also love to know what error you're seeing. Would you be able to provide a screenshot or let us know what it says?

  • Hello so ive been having this problem where i cant be invited or invite pepole to a group call i do have parental controls on so is there a setting or way i cant fix this? Thanks!

  • Dear meta my vr can’t call anyone when I try to join a call it just says error or you have left the call and I checked for updates none I restarted my vr and internet still no help and I don’t want to factory reset cause am scared to lose my progress in games and there’s other people with the same problem as me

  • Same issue. I can hear my friend for a second when she accepts and then nothing - in apps I can hear her she cannot hear me.
