Cannot log-in to meta account
I have not used my Oculus Rift S for over 6 months because I moved from one house to another. Few days ago I tried to connect again . But I am experiencing a persistent login issue with my Oculus Rift S. I can log into my Meta account on the website using my email address and a verification code, but I cannot log in using my password in the Oculus PC software or in the Meta login pop‑up that appears when launching SteamVR.
Here is what is happening:
- My Oculus account has already been migrated to a Meta account (confirmed on https://www.meta.com/websetup).
- I can access my Meta account online using email + verification code.
- However, the Oculus PC software refuses to accept my email/password combination and always returns: “wrong email address and/or password.”
- I have reset my password multiple times, but the PC software still rejects it.
- SteamVR also shows the Meta login pop‑up, which fails in the same way.
- As a result, my Rift S remains unusable (black screen), because the Oculus runtime cannot authenticate.
I have already tried:
- Full reinstall of the Oculus PC software
- Repair installation
- Clearing all Oculus cache folders
- Removing all Oculus folders under AppData
- Stopping OVRService and removing all remaining processes
- Rebooting
- Reinstalling Meta Horizon
- Multiple password resets
Nothing resolves the issue. It appears that my account is stuck between the old Oculus authentication system and the new Meta authentication system. The PC software seems to be attempting to authenticate against the old (now disabled) Oculus login backend.
I have tried to find a way to contact Meta to resolve the issue by unlocking or resetting the authentication state of my account on their side so that the Oculus PC software can authenticate correctly with my Meta account. But nowhere and noway on the Meta website am I able to address this issue. Is there anybody who can tell me how to get in contact with Meta ? ( I am situated in the region of the Netherlands). Your help is very much appreciated!
