Charging the meta quest 3 or 2 weirdly might result in it going to recovery mode.

If you put your VR headset (meta quest 3 works best) on a hard floor, and charge it, theres a chance it might go into recovery mode because of the floor touching the buttons, I do not know if this is the cause, but it could be. It only happens sometimes not all the time for me.
