Check the connection while installing the OculusSetup

Hello, I'm trying to install the OculusSetup.exe to be able to use my Oculus Rift S, but every time it is like dowloading it stops at some point and shows a message:

Check the connection.

There was an error while the instalation, Check your connection and try to run again the Oculus instalation program, If you continue having problems with it, please contack the Oculus help service. And here I am.

I already tried to turn on and turn off the wifii and connection by network port, either of them worked, already tried to desactivate all antivirus and run the installation, didn't work, I already restarted my computer, and it still didn't work. I don't know what to do, please help.

    Hey AlejoCr11, thanks for reaching out! We appreciate that you have already taken a few troubleshooting steps to getting the Oculus app installed on your PC.

     

    Please make sure that your PC is fully updated and your drive has at least 4GB of free disk space. Please also temporarily disable any VPNs, antivirus, and firewall protection when installing the Oculus app software. Don't forget to re-enable your respective security software after installing!

     

    If you're still running into issues with your install, please submit a support ticket here and include the setup logs. Instructions for how to collect those logs can be found here.

    Please make sure that your PC is fully updated and your drive has at least 4GB of free disk space. Please also temporarily disable any VPNs, antivirus, and firewall protection when installing the Oculus app software. Don't forget to re-enable your respective security software after installing!

      Hi there

       

      I am having this issue now. I try and install, it goes up to 5.10GB / 5.12GB done and then it freezes and the install fails saying check connection.

       

      The download goes at 50mbps all the way up to 5.10GB downloaded then just stops. 

       

      I have disabled firewalls and antivirus, updated my machine. Still getting the same thing. 

       

      I was on live chat and they are pretty useless.. Sending me forum links and telling me that I need to do a network check on my headset... Errmmm the issue is not on the headset. 

       

      Please can you provide any more solutions for this? Perhaps I need to delete something out of registry or something like that?

        Greetings, thanks for adding to the thread. Let's see if we can continue working on this to get to the bottom of it.

         

        Try to completely remove anything Oculus related off your PC, store, games, drivers etc and then reinstall it all and setup as a new device.

         

        If that doesn't help please submit a support ticket here and kindly include all of the troubleshooting steps that you have taken.

      dera support, i have the same porbelm that stop the installation on 5,1 gb!!!!!

      i lost one day to try ....

      Some one has find the solution or fixed?

      The chat not help at all
      the mail support is very slow and look that they don't how should works

    Same problem on my computer and also my son's.  add 2 more to the list.  it was exactly as described stopped at 5.10 g

    I am experiencing the exact issue on Windows 11. At 5.10gb the download stops and says the connection failed in some way.

      I wanted to update my issue. I read a post about Quest headsets doing this when installing a game at times. The only fix was to try again they had found. So on my 7th attempt at installing it finished the download and installed. I changed nothing I had been doing previously

    Yep same problem here. Tried restarting. Tried turning off firewalls. Nothing works. It's that **bleep** zuckerberg

    I was told to reset my headset, I can`t see how that's going to make my PC download software 😂.

     

    ONly bought it this week, I`m assuming I could send it back?

      They told me the same **bleep**. Their chat support team doesn't read or listen to your question. Generic script replies.. Very annoying tbh, can't deal with support that can't think with their own heads.

       

      They told me to do a speed test on some app but I must put the app next to my headset to make sure the connection is good. Then I must restart my router. Then they send me all kinds of links to do a factory reset on my headset.. Like bruh... 

       

      In IT we call these tactics deflection tactics. They make it seem like they know what they're doing, hoping that one of their bs solutions will fix it, meanwhile they are just wasting your time while trying to get more info or one of their devs to look at the issue.

       

      Rather just tell me you don't know a solution but you're escalating the issue. Then I can go do something else instead of sitting here on chat with you or trying to reinstall **bleep** 50 times because you make me think it's my side.. Lol

        This is exactly my thought, I'm not sure why support is giving us the run-around. If every other game service downloads games just fine besides Oculus....hmmm.. I get starting at the bottom, but beyond hard drive space and -maybe- the firewall there shouldn't be any more hoops to jump through period. 

         

        As far as I know the process of downloading is literally just moving the files to your machine right? Once you install a lot of all the other things they're having me try might be a little relevant, but how can you hear "hey I start downloading and it stops and 51% each time" and say to yourself (and me) "must be admin privileges" or "must be your Fresno logic controllers", what does that have to do with a download whatsoever?

         

        If vpn is working to a degree (still not 100% successful) does that not point directly towards network/server issues? 

        .

        I'm annoyed because it's not fixed, and I'm annoyed because they're wasting my time having me try irrelevant fixes.

    Hi, Eloi_Morlock, were you having problems with the PC software or downloading to the headset?

     

    We are having problems with installing the software on the PC. Headset switched off and on the floor.
