Controller and hands showing all the time on game on secondary profile since v74 update

Hi all,
 
I've been having a weird issue with my son's Quest 2 since the last update. I'm the device owner, and he has his own profile on the headset with app sharing enabled.
 
The problem is that no matter what game he launches, the controllers and hand outlines remain visible. This only happens on his account—my account works fine.
 
I’ve tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps:
• Removing and re-adding his account  
• Turning off experimental settings  
• Clearing all boundary data  
• Toggling body and hand tracking on and off  
• Disabling auto hand tracking switching  
• Doing a full factory reset on the headset  
 
Before the factory reset, there was also a window handle (Small white floating bar) with no window attached constantly on the screen. It appeared in both the Quest home environment and in games, and though it could be dragged around, it didn’t seem attached to anything. The window handle hasn’t reappeared since the reset, but the controller and hand outlines issue remains.
 
Has anyone else experienced these issues with secondary accounts (or even primary), or does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

    Same exact issue, it looks like v74 update broke second profiles. I have noticed the white multitask bar from the owner profile never disappears causing the issue.

    Hi MisterC72 🙂

    V74 is buggy for additional accounts in many ways. There are several posts on the forum about that issue.

    For me games are crashing when closing the quick menu with the Meta button. After that I'm back in my home and pressing any buttons on controller does nothing. I have to shut down the headset completely - bringing up the window to restart by pressing the power button is also not working - and then restart it.

    For now there is nothing you can do other than sending a bug report to let Meta know about the problem and hope this will be resolved fast.

      I can also confirm I have the same issues reported here, only when using the secondary accounts. Controllers plus hands rendered all the time in all games, games crashing and meta button not working to bring up menus (requiring a hard reset of the headset), secondary profiles not mapping new boundaries correctly, etc.

       

      Started March 15th 2025. Primary account seems much more stable and I haven't noticed the same issues in brief testing.

        More Info might help Meta to resolve it soon, I guess.

    Thanks all for replying and confirming I'm not the only one with this issue and thanks for the link Choleni. I've logged a bug report, hopefully this gets resolved quickly!

    I can also confirm that I'm having problems when trying to play any games or doing anything on my secondary account and experiencing issues like controller always rendering in game. It started just 2 days ago on the 15 and yet when I go to my primary account it works just fine.

    I am having the same issue and took all the same steps.  Thank you it’s great to know it’s a bug and they know about it.  Hopefully it will be resolved soon

    I have the same problem. The controllers appear over the hands in every games on the second profile and the windows title bar and close button appear on a bar at the bottom like in theatre mode in the UI. Main profile works fine.

    Same here.  Buggy operation and most importantly controllers showing up in game.  Just started not long ago.

      some people could solve the "controller/hands showing all the time" by doing a factory reset..... this will not solve the menu problem though.

        I've done multiple factory resets and also tested on both the Quest 2 where I originally noticed the issue, and on my Quest 3 and the problem is still there on both headsets. I've also tested with different additional profiles with the same results. I've got an open ticket with Meta support where they said they were investigating and would get back to me, but after hearing nothing back for the last week the only response I've had is that they will close the ticket if no further response is received. I was waiting for their response!

    Thought I'd put an update here.

    This still isn't resolved for me, so my son has not been able to use his account for over 3 weeks. I've had a ticket open with Meta support since that time, but all that has entailed is being asked to factory reset and try with different secondary profiles, things that I had already done multiple times. More concerning is that it appears users of the PTC v76 update are still seeing issues with secondary accounts, so it doesn't look like a fix is coming any time soon.

    I was planning on upgrading my son to a Quest 3 for his birthday in May, but that will be pointless if this issue isn't resolved.
