Disable Head Cursor Dot/Circle (BUG)

Hi,

I was wondering how to disable the head tracked dot(cursor) when I'm not using the Oculus controllers. I'm running an APK, and after a while of not using my controllers, they go away (sometimes in my face, but that's another issue), and it shows a white dot that can be used as a cursor (using volume buttons to click). 

 

However, when using an android app with a gamepad, the dot is incredibly annoying, and makes the experience unplayable. So how do we disable the dot?

    Thurrakand HenrySuen . I marked this problem as solved, as my initial issue was with having a Gamepad and the dot. However, I'll unmark the solution for you guys so hopefully it will gain more traction.

    Also pinging some Meta mods. Any resolution coming for this? @MetaQuestSupport TheAntiSocializer AliceinVRworld

    Hi Peter, we understand the headset cursor may be a little annoying; however, there is no way to disable it as it serves the same function as a mouse cursor on a PC when no controllers are detected. The headset would not be useable without it in that state, and the Oculus OS does not currently allow for this level of customization from customers.       I think you are very misunderstood on this matter.

      It's very very annoying for user using gamepad

        Yeah, it's really annoying. I don't know why they would force this feature. "Here you can use an APK, but it's absolutely annoying."

        Not excited for the metaverse.

      Hello, i'm using the quest 3 and I was wondering how the Remote Desktop was supposed to be use. I don't have access to the controller for the pc so I need to use my mouse and keyboard but when I do it, the headset cursor show up making the little black filter go up in the screen and the option in lower part of the window. When I use hand tracking, my hand on my keyboard or mouse point to the screen so the black filter go back on. Also if we can have access to the sound, making a working set up is not best.

      This is poorly thought out Function of the headset cursor how are you supposed to watch content in the browser with big white spot! Meta needs to take a breath and actually check in with users.😡

    It’s extremely annoying trying to watch some thing and a white dot appears in the middle of the screen. This ruins any chance of me enjoying what I’m watching

      Hi, I found a fix if you are streaming, try Wolvic browser, you can download it in the Oculus store, Firefox based, no cursor!

    Pity, still not resolved. Bought new quest 3 today and stuck with this frustrating feature

      Best thing I’ve found to do is keep the controllers next to me and tap a button/jiggle them when the dot appears and point the controllers off to the side. Pretty tedious but it works.

    This is the second annoying thing ive encountered in 2 days that support have been fobbing people off over for literally years. 

    How can i watch a video when you have to move the controllers like 20 times an hour?

     

    The other one i had is with the occulus dash and this annoying ambient noise that just keeps playing when you connect to your pc by airlink /cable, even when im running other programs / watching movies with the wristwatch completely gone along with access to settings. After hours working through solutions, including repairing my pc quest software where i had to download something and the download speeds were not even a kilobyte a second , i found nothing worked. Another issue with complaints going back years. Their answer was the same, make a suggestion in the ideas forum.... Whats the point. They clearly dont look at the ideas forum and just use it as a way to control the complaints. After a strong start Meta have really started to drop the ball. I really think im going to have to look elsewhere for vr.

    This is extremely annoying and I never had the issue happen this often on the Quest 1 and 2, but it keeps happening on the Quest 3.

    Their response to this issue is nothing short of rude and careless.

    I can't believe there is no solution to this. I wanted to use my Quest 3 to watch videos on the sofa and it started great until the controler turned off and I had this annoying dot that made the viewing horrible.
    I was already annoyed but hopeful that the solution was easy to find. Now I found that there is no solution, that meta knows and don't care and that I just have to forget to ever play a video on my headset ever again...
    Now that's not annoying, it's infuriating.

    I agree it’s very annoying to be interrupted every few minutes during a movie. The way I’m seeing how this company treats their customers in the responses is appalling. You’re being gas lit and given the run around. What sort of self respecting customer service department rep tells you to suggest fixes to their engineering department like you’re on the payroll? This is the issue sir or ma’am… ball is in your court or do you really want consumer reports and the better business bureau you get involved? I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding your engineering department yourself

    Devs. the solution to this problem is super **bleep**in easy. just require a press on the volume controls on the headset to force the dot on. otherwise never show dot. how is this taking so long to fix seriously.
