Error while making a purchase: Feature unavailable

I can't purchase anything on the Meta Store anymore.

It used to work just fine. My last successful purchase was on January 11. But then it just stopped working and whenever I try to buy anything, I get an error message:

"Feature unavailable

Your request could not be completed. This feature is currently not available to you. Please try again later."

I already contacted support and have an open case, but I've been having back and forth with them for a week now and nothing they do seems to help.

It's the same on all devices: headset, phone, pc. The same with three different payment methods. No restarting, clearing cash, fresh logins, incognito mode, vpns. Nothing works.

Support said they had made some changes to my account and now it should work, like three times. And to make sure changes apply to wait 24 hours. Again I did that and nothing helped.

I found threads on reddit and here with the same issue, and nothing seems to work, and support couldn't help in any case. So, I've bought my meta headset in the store, and I can't just buy games anymore? What should I do?

You've contacted official support already. What do you expect us random community people to do 🤷‍♂️? We can't access your accounts.

Maybe someone has already had success solving this issue, just never posted about it anywhere. Support is unable to help me, what am I supposed to do but try any available avenue?

Have you tried creating another Meta account, add your payment method, then see if you can gift games from your new account to your primary account? That works for some people. Note that a blogger (VRPUPU) claims that gifting about 4 games at once can supposedly trigger Meta's AI to flag the account as suspicious, so maybe only gift up to 3 games per day just to be safe.

  • What headset do you have? If you have a Quest 2 and try to purchase something that only runs on the Quest 3/3s you get that message.

I actually have both. I can't buy anything on any device. Last time I successfully bought a DLC for escape simulator, and now I can't buy another one with this error, as well as any other app on the store

  • Watching this thread.  Am having the same problem, suddenly.

Me again.  I just spent an hour (literally) with Meta Support on their chat.  Initially they though it was because I had recently travelled with my headset to another country, where licensing issues validly prevented me from purchasing the App there.

However, after ensuring that all my Location settings were set to my home country (both in the Meta App, on the PC login, and in each of my two Quest headsets), it still did not solve the problem.  I pointed out that one of my recent App purchases took place AFTER my return from the other country, so evidently it has worked even before the error cropped up.

They are going to get back to me, they say.

I tried chat twice, both times they redirected me to email. So at first, it seemed they were trying to do something, and got back to me every day, but after a week o so, they just stopped responding. And nothing was solved.

  • This is finally -- finally! -- working for me again.  I was successfully able to purchase an App.  Hope everyone else's issues are fixed.

I still get the same error. Nothing changed for me
