Hello guys. Today I got a surprise from my Meta Quest 3. After I woke up I heard some noise. It turned out it is coming from headset. I cannot turn on the headset and the noise is coming maybe from fan(??) coz when I put my hand on headset I feel small wind coming from inside. I reported that to support and waiting for their answer. The noise is so annoying so just wanted to ask here does anybody had same issue and is there anything what I can to do it with now?

Hey there! No apps or data will be deleted if you reboot. However, if you Factory Reset just make sure you check your cloud backup first! This will save any data on apps/games that have cloud backup. Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel. Select Settings. Select System, then select Backup. Select the toggle next to Cloud backup to turn cloud backup on or off. Hi dzak90

Have you tried a hard reset? Hold down the power and volume down buttons until the boot menu appears, then select reboot.

I had this same issue. Though I was scared I did more research. If you haven't yet hold the power button and the volume down buttons at the same time you should be brought to a screen with 4 options use the volume up and down to navigate this screen. You are going to have to factory reset this but your games are cloud saved so you shouldn't lose any of your games just might lose progress in those games.

I am having the same problem. Meta Quest 3, tried to reset by pressing and holding power and volume buttons, but all it does is make a fan noise and blows air but won't turn on or off. Exactly the same as dzak90 problem and I don't see a fix here for it

Hey eiley! We would love to help you with the noise your Quest 3 is making! We completely understand how worrisome it can be when the Quest is making unknown noises. Lets go ahead and start out with trying some troubleshooting steps and see if that does the trick. We suggest trying to heard reboot and if that doesn't work try to factory reset the device. We can go ahead and provide the steps for a hard reboot and factory reset. Below we have provided instructions for both troubleshooting steps.

Hard Reboot the headset

Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound.

If the boot-up sound is not heard, enter the USB Update Mode and select "Boot Device".

Cloud Backup before Factory Reset

Performing a Factory reset will wipe all information and data off the device. Some of this data can be restored by enabling Cloud Backups beforehand. However, keep in mind that while Cloud Backup is available to all Meta Quest developers, it's up to developers to decide whether to enable this feature for their app and what data is backed up. You can find which installed apps have Cloud Backups enabled on the Cloud Backups page of your Meta account profile. Once you've set up Cloud Backups, ensure your device is fully charged, then proceed with the directions.

Factory Reset from Meta Quest mobile app

Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.

Tap Devices in the bottom menu.

Tap the headset connected to your phone.

Tap Advanced Settings.

Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

  While I am new to this forum, I am not new to Technical Support, I would like to suggest that rebooting and factory resetting, are not valid solutions, and if we set the bar that low, it trickles uphill and allows for slack engineering. This is an awesome product when its working, please a bit more QA if you would.

Yes, mine is doing it right now, besides not working, there is no way to shut it off, and I find the resulting white noise that it is producing annoying enough to have to her put the device in another room. I noticed it because it was producing a stream of cold air coming from the groove around the front face plate. batter
Cooling fans should be blowing warm air out, sucking ambient air in, and turning off when not needed. This is an obvious bug and must be fixed, the battery life is poor enough as it is without the continuous energy drain a mechanical fan produces. Not to mention device wont boot until battery drained.
Maybe they should change the name to "Metastable" LOL . Come on guys, put down the beer and fix the bug.

I have same issue. All I did was press power to put it to sleep after I took it off, put it back on and the black screen and fans happened. Holding power and volume down doesn't show any menu. When unplug it into a power source the fan starts. When it's unplugged, nothing happens. Holding power for 15-30 seconds does nothing, holding power and volume down does nothing.
