gray screen

After resetting my Quest3 to factory settings using the engineering menu, I'm experiencing the following issue: when I turn it on, the Meta logo lights up for a few seconds, then a white dot appears briefly in the middle of the screen, then disappears, and the entire screen turns gray. What should I do? There's no service center nearby. Could you please advise me on how to resolve this issue?

It sounds like you've been incredibly thorough in your troubleshooting, and we understand how frustrating this gray screen issue must be, especially after a factory reset.

Hello! You sent me a broken link, but I still tried flashing Quest3 through your website (https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/software_update/?view=prepare) and nothing helped. The problem still persists. Please suggest another solution.

        Hello there zasonov !

Thank you so much for your patience and for trying the flashing process, we’re truly sorry about the broken link earlier, and we appreciate your persistence in working through it.

Since the gray screen issue is still occurring after a factory reset, we’d recommend performing a hard reboot using the steps below. This can help reinitialize the headset and may resolve the boot sequence glitch:

        Hard Reboot the headset

Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound

If the boot-up sound is not heard:

Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.

Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.

Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Hello, dear support! Now the logo with sound is loaded, but in the end everything disappears not after the bright dot on top, but a dark strip appeared from the bottom, as if quest3 is trying to load something and it crashes With respect and asking for forgiveness for my stupidity, Dmitry

  • Someone in another thread also had the grey screen problem after a factory reset. It was caused by them having placed sticky tape over the proximity sensor. After they removed the tape, the headset worked 😁.
