Headset stuck on Passthrough

Hey people, 

Accidently I tapped the headset while adjusting the strap and activated Passthrough. 

Nevertheless, the headset is stuck on it now! I cannot get out of it! I tried to reboot several times, and even after restarting, the headset goes straight to Passthrough view. 

Any tip on this?

    Hey everyone! Just wanted to jump in here and report that I'll be locking this thread as the original post does seem to be pretty old and could potentially have a different root cause than anything recent.

    If you're having any issues with your headset being stuck on passthrough, I'd suggest checking out these steps here. If those don't help out, please feel free to start a new thread in the Get Help boards as well as reaching out to MetaStoreHelp through PM for them to check out some other options.

    [SOLVED] Reboot the device without wearing it. The Passthrough disappear.

      This has not worked for me.  Will Oculus please reply with a solution.  I can't even use my device as even when I try to start an app it stays in passthrough mode.   Why isn't there just a simple menu option to turn this on or off?

        Hi there RLAKING, thank you for letting us know about your issue with your headset. We know being unable to get past the passthrough can be inconvenient, and we understand how important being able to access your headset and play your hard earned games is. We want to do all that we can to help you out on this matter!

         

        For troubleshooting, can you please review the following:

        • Try double tapping the right arm on the headset to see if this will get you out of the passthrough mode.
        • Factory reset the headset.
          1. First, turn off your headset completely.
          2. Then, hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
          3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
          4. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

    So this is a bug? I'm consistently showing up in Passthrough everytime I turn on the Quest 2. Didn't happen prior to .27 so this is confirmed bug? Is see alot of these issues in reddit and online.

      I've been struggling with this as well. Whenever I boot up the device, I am stuck in passthrough and can't access any menus or anything.

    I got this problem not long ago after i updated my device. I stucked it in key the password. My controller was connected with oculus but cursor didn’t move together. After that oculus was turn off and on repeatly. Is this bug from the lastest firmware?

    Same exact problem, there is no way to fix this??? tried to power up without wearing it, still in passthrough mode, can someone please fix this or respond to us?

      This is the solution turn off your headset then turn it on but dont wear it when it is turning on wait like 10 seconds after it turns on

        I tried this many times and nothing works. I just bought a new game yesterday and cant even play it because whenever i turn it on it goes straight into passthrough. Ive tried everything i did what you said but it goes normal for like a split second then back into passthrough.

      Hey there, Fuzzyfan and RLAKING! We don't want you all to have problems with turning off the passthrough on your devices. We know this can get in the way of you having the VR experience you want. We want your user experience to be as seamless as possible. If you have not done so already, please try a hard reboot of your device. 

      Steps for a hard reboot:

      • Make sure the power is fully off and fully charged
      • Hold down the volume and power buttons at the same time until you see a menu
      • On the menu, select boot or reboot
      • Highlight boot or reboot (select this option by using the volume up and down buttons)
      • To select this option, use the power option to do so
      • This will prompt your device to restart

    Hey hey, @sandman1971.2022! We just wanted to pop by to lend a hand with this passthrough issue you are having. We know how important it is to be able to control this feature. So that we can get to the bottom of this, can you confirm the following:
     

    • Are you on the gradian set up?
    • Or does this happen when looking at the home screen or menu?

    Once we grab this information, we will be able to look into this further for you!

    I think in trying what is marked as the solution I may have figured out why turning it off and on again works to "fix" this issue.

    I thought mine was stuck in "pass-through" and searched the forums to find this. When I restarted my Meta Quest 2, upon restarting it asked me to confirm my boundary, which I had set up previously as stationary in my office chair. I was scooted back a bit farther than before from my desk, so I was now on the very border/outside my boundary. If I go inside what I had set was the boundary boundary before, it would show the menus and interface, but outside it would show my environment around me so I would not run into things, appearing like it was "stuck in passthrough mode", because I could not see the menu. What the device was trying to tell me was "go into the blue circle..." (or whatever color you have selected as your boundary), and "...then we will show you the menu's".

    TLDR: When you restart the device, you can re-set your boundary area, and menus do not show if you are outside the boundary

    I'm having the same issue, slightly different. When I boot it up, on my head or not, will show me a quick glimpse of my oculus home and revert back to passthrough with no menu or options. All this started after the update. I've tried shutting off and on, resting, using voice controls, pressing to open the menu. Nothing. Absolutely nothing happens. I don't want to have to factory reset every time I get bugs like this.

      Hey there KitoBean are you still having this experience with your headset? This is not the experience you should be having and want to see if any of the steps provided by the community or ourselfs have changed anything?

    You don't have to reset the system settings, just reset the playing area when it asks.  That worked for me

    I am also experiencing this and have tried everything to get out of passthrough. A factory reset isn't feasible for some of my devices in the field. What can we do to get out of passthrough?

    I see a glimpse of the oculus home screen, then three blinking dots and a black screen before being locked in to passthrough.

    I got this to work by opening the quest companion app on my phone, and then using unlock headset. Once I did that I can see all the menus. Still in pass-through mode but at least there are controls.
