Horizon Home w/ One Way Audio

I have been inviting a friend to my Horizon Home so we could work together. When he joins, he can hear me but I cannot hear him. I have checked that my audio is up and I can hear the environment sounds, just not him. I could see his mouth moving as if the mic is active and registering audio, just nothing is coming through.

We also tried opening a call where, again, he could hear me but I could not hear him. I could see on the call indicator that he was talking and his avatar mouth was moving but I am still not hearing his audio.

He opened a bug but I am wondering what others have done to resolve this kind of issue.

My headset is on a fresh factory reset with pretty much all default settings.

    He just joined from the Quest 2 and audio worked as expected. Two-way communication sounded great.

    So, it is either a settings thing on his Quest 3 or something broken in the software between the old version on his Quest 2 (v60 something) and the new version on his Quest 3 (v78).

    He is updating his Quest 2 to the latest version available there results in the same breaking issue he is experiencing on the Quest 3.

      Hi there!

       

      After reading through your post we understand that you are running into some problems when it comes to audio on the Meta Quest 3 when you are unable to hear your friend so let's see what we can do to get this resolved.

       

      In this case we would like to suggest to try the following: 

       

      1. Try headphones to see if there is audio
      2. Test with multiple games/apps
      3. hard reboot of the headset: Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound

      Let us know how what the results are when trying these steps.

        Thank you for the response. My friend just joined me again after doing a factory reset on the device. Still same experience with me not being able to hear him but he can hear me.

        To try your steps:

        1. Headphones - Still only one-way communication from me to him.
        2. Other games/apps - We can hear eachother in a call and Horizon Worlds. It only seems to be happening when we are in the Home environment.
        3. Hard reboot - Tried this several times and he just did a factory reset with the same one-way communication.

         

        We did experiment with the following, while he had the headphones plugged in.

        1. Shared Home Environment - One-way communication
        2. Shared Home Environment w/ In-Headset Call - One-way communication
        3. Individual Home Environments w/ Call - Two-way communication
        4. Horizon Worlds - Two-way communication

         

        Here is a workaround that may help determine the root cause:

        1. Shared Home Environment
        2. Start an in-headset call
          1. It is one-way communication at this point
        3. On iPhone open Meta Horizon App
        4. Join the active call from the phone
        5. In-headset echo for friend (he is hearing my phone and headset mic)
          1. I muted my in-headset mic to avoid the echo
        6. I am not able to hear him in-headset
        7. I am able to hear him on my phone
