Hello TheScripter! While that button you're trying to press might be doing nothing, we're here to try something! We'd like to suggest a few things to check, to help you get things set up how you prefer:

    • Launch the Quest Link app as an administrator on your PC
    • Ensure no other third-party VR programs (ex. SteamVR) is already set as the default
    • Confirm that the registry is 64bit, not 32bit

If those don't seem to do the trick, try uninstalling/reinstalling the app, and then let us know how it went!

Where do you make sure no other third-party VR program is set as the default? Links to instructions?

Hey blueflame977! That's a great question! We have provided some steps below to see if this will help:

        1. Open your Oculus software.
        2. Navigate to Settings -> General.
        3. Click the 'Set Oculus as active' button to choose Oculus as your active OpenXR runtime. Depending on your Oculus software version this option can be under 'General'

Please let us know if these steps worked for you!

I am having the same problem. I've tried restarting in Admin mode with no other VR running but clicking the button does nothing. I tried a repair of the program (but not a full uninstall/reinstall as I don't know what that does to the games installed).

Can you be more specific by what you mean by 'Confirm that the registry is 64bit, not 32bit?' Are you referring to a particular Windows registry key?

        Hey there, Diamond60!

The process of completing a manual uninstall/reinstall would take you through the backup process to make sure you don't lose any of your progress. If the repair didn't work, I'd go ahead with this process. You can do that by:

        1. Disconnect the Rift/Link cable from the computer
        2. Disconnect your computer from the internet
        3. Backup any necessary content
        4. Reboot into Safe Mode
        5. Uninstall the Link PC VR app using the Control Panel
        6. Delete all Oculus folders from the following folder:
          • C:\Program Files
        7. Remove any Oculus folders from the following locations:
          • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData
          • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Local
          • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\LocalLow
          • C:\Users\YourUserProfile\AppData\Roaming
          • C:\OculusSetup-DownloadCache
          • Note: The AppData folder is usually hidden. Use these steps to access AppData.
            1. Press Windows key + R to launch the Run dialog window.
            2. Type %AppData% in the Run box and click OK or press Enter
            3. File Explorer will launch to the AppData\Roaming subfolder.
            4. Click AppData in the File Explorer address bar to show all three subfolders in the AppData location.
        8. Restart your computer in normal mode
        9. Reconnect your computer to the internet
        10. Install the Link PC VR app again using the setup tool from our website here
        11. Reconnect the Rift/Link cable and re-test the headset

I'm not entirely sure what registry key they were asking for but I can certainly look into it further if the manual uninstall doesn't work ğŸ˜Š

  • Hi,

after trying everything for many hours I installed the Oculus OpenXR manually via the Registry:

    1. Search for the OpenXR json file, mine was here (for 64bit):
      C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json
    2. Open the Registry Editor as Admin:
Type "regedit.msc" into the Windows Search Bar and choose "Run as administrator"
    3. Search for the keys in the screenshots and manually modify them, add the correct path to your OpenXR runtime
    4. Start Meta Quest Link client and check the OpenXR entry
    5. Test with some software, I was now able to check the OpenXR box in X-Plane 12

    Have fun!
    Best

What do I need to modify manually, and how do I do it? I have the window open and the keys ready, but I’m not sure how to proceed. Could you provide some images or a more detailed explanation?

        Hi,
just use the context menu and modify the keys, enter the path for your OpenXR json file. Just follow my steps, and take a look at the screenshots, all the info is there.

This fixed it for me! Importantly in my case though, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Khronos\OpenXR key wasn't ever created for some reason. If your registry looks like mine in the first image and you're still unable to change to the meta runtime:

      1. In the left pane right click on "Khronos" (location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Khronos), hover over "New >" and then click "Key".

      2. Name it "OpenXR"

      3. Repeat the same process again, only this time right clicking on the newly created "OpenXR" key, and naming new key "1" (the number one in case your font makes it difficult to discern).

      4. Inside the right pane right click anywhere where there's no text, hover over "New >", then click "String Value".

      5. Name it "ActiveRuntime".

      6. Modify the value either by double clicking on it, clicking then pressing enter, or right clicking and clicking "Modify". Paste in the value you found for your Oculus runtime (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json").

      7. Hit enter or click "OK", and you should be all good!
