How to transfer an existing account to a child and keep old account for parent.

My husband was the one who set up our sons account on meta.  Unfortunately, he created the account under my Facebook account as an adult and not as a child.  I can't figure out how to transfer the account to my son, while creating my own account to supervise because it's all under my single Facebook log in information. When I try to create my own meta-account, I use my Facebook log in and it just takes me to his user account.  The only way I can figure out how to solve this is completely deleting all meta-accounts and starting over, but of course that will delete all of my son's game progress.  Is there any way I can fix this without that happening? Thank you.

  • I have the same problem. Please share a solution. My child set up their own account somehow and I feel I might have a lawsuit against META if they don't get this corrected asap since it allows inappropriate content to my minor child. There is no way to contact Meta about this! Next action is a lawyer! I'm done with the run around.

      Slimliner2024  what Maccyb123 says.

Meta does not allow childs(10-12) having an own account without parental supervision and if they get aware of it, the account will be suspended.

Slimliner2024 That's an interesting situation you mentioned! I was really curious about the legal situation so I asked my wife who is a corporate lawyer here in Türkiye but also has a Doctorate in international law. I asked what she thought about your situation. She thinks the law is very clear on this. Within the home, the parent has total responsibility for supervision of the child and what the child can access. It will be seen as negligence on the parents part for not properly supervising the child's activities. A similar situation, would be, for example, a child accessing an adult movie at home. Can you sue the maker or distributor of the movie? No. Meta did not allow your child to access inappropriate content. You did that. You should be careful about paying lawyers to sue for what will likely be seen as negligence on your part. She advises against going down that particular road.

Is it just my imagination, or are the users in this forum getting more and more crazy and delusional? Is that why they call it the Silly Season? 🤪

  • Update: we were unable to fix it so I took over the account and we started another one for the child.
