EDIT: I've done some testing and was able to recreate the problem. But I was also able to pair successfully.

Hitting "Continue" returned me to the Link home screen always, if I tried to initiate pairing from the LINK PC app. However, pairing worked flawlessly if I initiated pairing from within the headset Link setting, using the PAIR button. I could not reproduce the issue where it quits unexpectedly at the pairing confirmation page.

I successfully initiated pairing from within the headset Link setting.

My PC is wired to a router, which has 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz wifi. I have a subnet with a second wifi router connected by wire to the first router, which has only 2.4 Ghz wifi.

I was able to pair successfully to all three of these wifi networks. Of course, the Link dashboard only successfully loaded on the 5 Ghz wifi. The dash jittered terribly on the 2.4 Ghz wifi on the primary router (as expected). The dashboard would not load at all on the 2.4 Ghz wifi on the secondary (subnetted) router (as expected) and gave an infinite "three dots" loading screen.

I've reported the bug via the Help->Feedback option within the Link PC app.

  • You are not reading the instructions on the screenshot you posted! You have to put on your headset and go into the Quick Settings menu on your headset. Then click the Link option in Quick Settings. Then you either need to plug in your USB cable to your PC and headset OR you need to toggle the "use AirLink (wifi)" toggle in the Link Quick Settings and press the Launch button underneath. Basically, you initiate the connection from within your headset, not through the PC app.

No, he just didn't explain the problem properly.

We don't have the "Launch" option, for that option to come up it needs to pair the headset.

Doesn't matter what state the headset is in, the APP on desktop is glitching and the headset cannot pair. No code to confirm ever shows up (when prompting to pair/connect through headset) and clicking continue in the desktop app brings you back to home.

Even if we do manage to force the setup with the banner prompt, the setup quits itself unexpectedly at the same stage where we need to confirm the pairing codes.

That sounds like a different problem. Let's not conflate multiple software glitches in the same thread, it makes troubleshooting even more difficult.

  • I am having same issue. My headset is not showing up on the meta link app. It is saying link is disconnected depsite being connected. Headset is charging. On starup I get a message saying something went wrong. Unable to join. Try again later.

Can't setup headset becuase PC cant find any headset despite being connected. Please note airlink works but I want to play wired and lag free. Can someone help or alert Meta to sort this crap out asap

That's not the same issue at all; please don't hijack other people's threads.

On starup I get a message saying something went wrong. Unable to join. Try again later.

That's a harmless error message and has nothing to do with Link. I get that too on my Quest 3. So does my daughter on her Quest 3. Link isn't even enabled on her headset.

      Please note airlink works

??? I thought you said the headset was not showing up in the Link PC app. How is that possible if AirLink works????? That doesn't make sense. To use USB cable connection, you need to toggle AirLink off in the headset Link settings first - did you do that?

I don't get any lag while using AirLink, but I had to decrease the Encode Bitrate to about 70 Mbps. Previously, for the past 7 month, it worked fine at the default bitrate (200 Mbps) but for some reason that I can't identify, it doesn't like that setting anymore (possibly an issue with my wifi).

TLDR: if you get lag in AirLink, lower the bitrate setting in the Link dashboard when connected to the PC.

That is what I am trying to highlight. The quest 3 headset turns on and says wired link is disconnected. When I turn on air link it disables the wired link. Wireless works. I am not interested in wireless. I want lag free wired PC VR gaming. This is the issue. The meta horizon app software is not acknowledging the headset is connected despite offical cable and I am having this very same issue on multiple PCs. This indicates to me a software problem with the meta horizon link app

  • i will try to explain more my problem with the meta horizon app

i installed recently the meta horizon app on my pc,i logged as usual

i am already logged everything is normal until i try to link my headset to the pc , i click on the side that says devices and there try to link via cable my quest

i click on it and i get sent here

click on continue button but immediately as i click it i get sent to the home page

if anyone knows something about this and needs more info about the problem to help pls just answer the post thx

Yes, I know. Did you not read my post from 2 days ago where I did the testing and reproduced the problem? You can pair to the PC, but you must start the pairing process from the Link settings inside the headset, instead of doing "add headset" in the PC app. It will then make the PC app show the pairing code 🙂.

If I'm correct. From within your headset you cant connect via link because it is saying the link is disconnected despite the link cable being plugged in to the headset and usb c port. Is that correct?

slave2theOne  no,  his problem is different, steve_40  already mentioned that.

Tiburoncinurss said that he try to "link" the headset, but he use the "add" button in the link app. That's for adding a new device to the app..... NOT to link the Quest with it. The linking process starts from the headset.

We're all talking past each other, I think.  Too many things are mixed up.

This message has nothing to do with link, it pops up when the Quest isn't connected to WLAN and disappears within a few seconds....you can completely ignore that.

Sometimes my (cable) link is disconnected even though it's plugged in.

Normally restarting the headset, unplugging/replugging.... sometimes is that order, sometimes vice versa, sometimes multiple times can solve that.
