IPD popup keeps popping up randomly

I'm on the Quest 2, and with one of the new updates, there is a pop-up when you slide the lens to each of the 3 notches. I have mine pushed out all the way, and it's been working fine for years, but every 10-15 minutes a really annoying popup comes up saying the IPD is at 68, it just says what it's already at, and I'm not sure why, but I've never had this problem, and it doesn't seem like a hardware issue at all. Seems like others on Reddit have also had this issue around a month ago as of posting this now, and it doesn't seem like it's been fixed.

  • I received the following response from the Meta support:

I have reached out to our specialized team on this matter, and they have confirmed to me that this is actively being looked into by our engineers. At this information stage, we would be extremely grateful if you continue to submit bug reports when you get the chance - as this gives our engineers more data to look into to hopefully come to a resolution quicker.

I submitted the bug report a couple of weeks ago, but have not get an answer. Could you just send the link to this article to developers? Let them add this to the bug list. There are many such complaints to this problem in the Internet. For example, there is one more thread on this site: https://communityforums.atmeta.com/discussions/OtherTroubleshooting/v77---ipd-popup/1327828

I found temporary  solution! Via Sidequest paste this adb command:

      adb shell setprop debug.oculus.noIpdNotifier 1

It will disable popup until next reboot. Not very usefull, so  may be Meta engineers can simply add option to interface to turn off this crap! If they for 3 month can't found reason of this bug!

Yeah I pretty much just had that same conclusion with them also.

if it is shown when you do a fast turn, that might mean that it's hardware releated

It's possible but highly unlikely..more likely to be a software bug affecting the sensors, but I like the way you think ! I had it popping up occasionally too, and you are right that a fast turn sometimes triggers it, but after I factory reset (due to another issue) the ipd isn't popping up anymore.

  • I haven't seen the pop-up for couple of weeks. I launched the adb command mentioned above, but after that I definitely rebooted the headset. And I see - a new SW version was installed last Friday. Therefore, I don't know whether the "debug.oculus.noIpdNotifier" property value remains permanently, or this was fixed in the last SW update.

  •  Cool still no movement on this bug.

Good job meta! keep selling ads and appealing to children instead of fixing stuff your customers bought.
