Is the screen quality really poor or is my new Meta Ques 3 a dud?

I just bought a new headset but I noticed the screen is black I see an orange like hue around the the tops of the screen and it's so distracting. When I look at the lenses in the dark with just black on the screen and no light to bounce off the lenses, it's not perfectly uniform like my Quest 2 is, I see like two light beams going down either side diagonally. This is meant to be black and the exposure on my camera is making it look like it's light, but it's hard to show this orange glow around the edges, it looks like an arch around the outside when I have the headset on. It's so distracting when looking at something dark like a Youtube video.

What is going on?

    The other thing I've noticed is it looks like it's dirty on the lens or something, I move around looking up at the blue in the little menu area and it's like a mesh or something I can see as I move. Yet my Quest 2 again is perfectly clear, yet this one looks like it could be dust or something in there.

        It's all updated and setup, but I have the same issue, having Googled it I can see lots of posts about IPS glow and the problem being pancake lenses or something? Dunno what that means. 

        I think I'll just get a refund if I still can as I got it 15 days ago and only just opened it yesterday. Seems like a widespread issue, I thought it was going to be OLED or something after the Quest 2 which was LCD. However if it's going to seem like a downgrade from even that, then no thanks.
