Issue using Rift S with latest Quest Link Software
I have a Rift S which I used happy with an XPS17 9700 a couple of years back with no issues at all. After storing it in the box I got it out and plugged it in so said laptop again and the software did an immediate update. After going though the boundary and getting to a area with three apps that I could select I select the last on which was first steps. At that point I am standing in an area with three dots animation in front of me with no progress after about 30 minutes.
After reinstalling everything from scratch I get the same issue. After installing the software on my sons i7-8700 with RTX5060 I see the same issue. The headset seems to work. The video is fine and the spatial detection seems to work. It knows when I step out of the play zone.
As a further test we started up Subnautica VR (steam) which my son used to play on a much slower gaming laptop (Lenovo Y910 - i7 & nvidia 1070) just fine. On his more powerful new desktop it was so laggy as to be unplayable.
It seems the newly updated software that got installed will not drive the Rift S properly and I don't see any discussions that describe the exact problem above. When I read about 3 dots in the forums it indicates a hardware or comms issue however I don't think this is either of those. It just looks like the software does not drive the Rift S properly an instead is buggy and laggy.
Is there any way I can revert to an older version of the software that worked for me properly? Or is there something I can check to get the latest quest link working with a Rift S?
Cheers and Thanks in advance
Shaun
