Left controller SOS death again 5x 8 weeks

Quest 3: Fifth time in two months both or one (usually left)  brick. Now the headset. All of the recommended troubleshooting did not work. 

I only use mine for boxing. I have an attached facemask w/ gel cooling (gimmick)

this always seems to happen around time a new update is available. The left controller suddenly SOS.

Why would it occur every time a new update is there, and it won't download the firmware or it will get to 100% but fail. Today, it wouldn't move past 0%.

If it is software/firmware, why would it happen to some, not all?

if not software, what then? I used controller covers. No covers. No difference. Never dropped. Maybe they knocked headset boxing but not with force.

Sweat makes no sense. I do heavy sweat but this thing is marketed for exercise. It gets wiped often and handled with care.

can anyone fathom a guess why this keeps happening? Holding controllers too tight? The velocity when boxing? 

I'm in the angry zone now. This is so ridiculous. Meta's refurbished has never worked. Amazon sent me a new one because Meta's kept breaking over and over.

What can I do to ensure these don't fail? I had auto update off. But the controller firmware? Any setting? 

HELP!!!
