Meta account

So I just recently got a meta 3s and I think it had a user before me, I don’t mind I just want to play my meta. I then realized there was an account on here it also says that it’s the main user I looker further and this persons email and phone number are linked to it, I cannot change it because I need this persons password. I also claimed the game that came with the meta 3s on that account so I also don’t want to lose access to the game. I can’t contact support to possibly change the email and password and I don’t know what to do!!

Unfortunately you cannot claim a game that is on another persons account. The game is not attached to the device, it's attached to the user. Have you tried factory resetting and setting up your own account? Factory reset will bring it back to original state and you can set up a new account. The only way it won't work is if the device is reported as stolen. So, you're good to go! Reset the device, set up your new account and you're all set. Except for the game, you'll have to buy that most likely. Good luck and enjoy your new Quest!! 🤞🤞

Thank you so much for the response, I’ll factory reset it when I get home. Hopefully it works .

  • Wait, they didn't factory reset the headset before selling it to you 🤭? Do they still have their payment method attached 😁? Did they perhaps also neglect to add a store PIN 😜? Maybe try buying some games, just out of curiosity to see if it works🤪. Asking for a friend 😈🤣.

But as Maccyb123 suggested, do a factory reset, then set up the headset from scratch using your own Meta account. Then add your own payment method. And I strongly advise you also set up a store PIN number to prevent accidental purchases. Note, I do not advise linking your Meta account to other accounts such as Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, it sometimes ends in tears.

Maccyb123 I recently went on holiday and stayed at an Airbnb. The previous guests had neglected to log out of their Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Apple TV, Paramount+, Kayo and Spotify (even though the check-out instructions clearly reminded the guests to do so). Interestingly, the Prime Video account had an associated payment method which was not password protected, so I might have "accidentally" subscribed the user to all the additional channels like HBO, Britbox, Apple, etc (I was kind enough to unsubscribe them before the free trials expired, but they might be surprised when they find out that their add-free subscription add-on and Paramount+ add-ons were also cancelled 😇😈🤪). Also, the Apple TV user probably received a lot of mysterious pop-ups on their phone asking if they wanted to approve the purchase of various movies 😇🤣. Also, the Spotify user might be surprised to find out that their favourite playlists have been completely changed, with no more Justin Beeber, Taylor Swift, etc, but now full of death metal tracks and songs about poop 😇😁.

(PS. I was kind enough to log them all out before I left, but not before enjoying watching the free content 😁).

  • Hi King.Hugo 🙂

There is no other way other than a factory reset to make you the admin(owner) of the headset.

You can't simply change email and password..... support can't do that either.

About the game.... I heard some people buy a headset, claim the game and then send the Quest back.

And as Maccyb123 mentioned, the game is tied to the account, not the headset.

But if you bought a new Quest 3 S, which should come with a game, talk to support to see if they can help...... if we are talking about a used headset, you are not eligble to get the game at all.

So, if it's new contact support via email, chat or WhatsApp HERE

  • Message who you bought it off or just make a separate account i dont think the main account matters

i dont think the main account matters

It absolutely matters. The primary account is the legal owner of the headset, and King.Hugo might find themselves locked out of the headset in the future if the previous owner's account ever gets logged out.
