Meta Link App Download Failed "Restart Computer"

For the past week i've been unable to install the Meta app on my new gaming laptop, however i get the same error after it gets near to the end of the install bar, i just get the popup saying "restart computer"

I've tried:

Restarting my computer

installing OpenSSL (both Lite & the main one)

Repairing x64 and x82 visual studio files

Deleting the Oculus folders in the Local file

Deleting the Meta folder in Program files

Anybody know what else i can do? Seems pointless to have a fairly expensive VR headset which i can't use on the games i want.

Cheers!

  • UPDATE: Fixed the issue by removing my second monitor! I assume disabling NordVPN and the anti-virus will work for other people however

I don't understand why a second monitor would cause the Link installation to fail πŸ€ͺ, but I'm really glad you figured it out! πŸ˜„πŸ‘

    Hi!

I had the same problem and solved it by downloading the app from this link.

    https://www.meta.com/it/quest/setup/

I believe this is another version of the app. It's really frustrating that Meta doesn't fix these issues.

    Hope this helps.

I’m sorry for you. Unfortunately, it’s really frustrating.

Are you using the latest installer? It sounds like you are following outdated instructions for a problem that was resolved weeks ago.
