Blip charging by plugging/unplugging the charger is kind of a myth. It's not necessary. Just plug in the charger and wait... and wait... as long as necessary.

Lithium‑ion devices - including the Quest 2 - have a battery protection circuit. If the battery voltage drops too low (deep discharge), the protection circuit locks out normal charging to prevent damage.

When that happens, the charger can't deliver full current. Instead, it sends tiny pulses of power to slowly raise the battery voltage back above the safety threshold. Only then will the device accept a normal charge. Those tiny pulses are the real "blip charging." This is not a special trick invented by forum users - it's just how protected Li‑ion charging works.

What users describe online is:

  • The user sees no lights, no boot, no feedback, or sees a red light.
  • They plug it in, unplug it, try again, and eventually it "magically" comes back.
  • They assume the act of unplugging/replugging is the cure, when in reality the battery was just slowly creeping back above the cutoff voltage.
  • So the ritual is a myth.
  • The underlying electrical behavior is absolutely real.

I absolutely don't believe this is something magcal.😅

 I'm  aware of the protection circuit and why  the headset doesn't take power. 😉

 Maybe the headset would come back to life after waiting very, very long.....maybe not.

 Some people had their headsets on charge over night - without success.... maybe unplugging/replugging makes the process of being able to take power again is faster?
