Meta Quest 3 - no menu bar or universal menu appearing after tutorial, stuck in Store page

Hi,

Just purchased a Meta Quest 3 from a third party seller, new condition, after selling my Quest 2 on. 

On completing the set up, account link and tutorials, it asks you to open the Universal Menu. In my case this booted up the Store, with no bottom menu to select. On closing the Store page it immediately reopens.

I have attempted this from scratch three times after two factory resets, and the same result.

  • I have the exact same issue, hoping for an answer. 
    Not ideal but I found that if you search for a browser in the store. When this opens, there is a manage settings option in there. Hoping for an actual fix though too.

      hoping Meta Store Support will be able to help resolve, would rather not send the headset back...

        Do the Meta button for VR headset controllers / oculus icon on your right Touch controller light up when you click it?

        We would like you to try using hand tracking to try and bring up the universal menu.

        When in hand tracking make a pinching motion 🤏 to bring up the menu.

  • did you find a solution to the problem???
    I've had the same problem since the day before yesterday - my menu bar is missing and only the store opens and can't be closed.
    I can't get into the settings or anything.

      Unfortunately no as they wanted me to send it back but as it was a gift and I don’t have the receipt etc I couldn’t do that. You might be able to get yours sent back though if you open a support ticket with them.

      In the mean time if you want to get to setting, on the keyboard when you are in the store there is the wheel/cog icon on bottom

      right. Not ideal but best I’ve been able to find so far. Hope you gets fixed 

  • No solution but some workarounds.

     

    No menu coming on.

     

    -Need press meta logo button on Right Controller 5 times for bug report.

     

    -Click on description bring up virtual keyboard 

     

    -Click on settings gear icon -bottom right

     

    -And back arrow at top -Virtual keyboard 

     

    And all settings can be accessed. 

     

    can buy and play - lauch apps or games -from phone app and if 

     

    Go settings -help at bottom -support- and -apps and Games on website. 

     

    Then store window comw on to navigate kind a .

     

     Then on phone app or same support page browse store for game, then hit launch

    Few extra step needed but

    working fine otherwise -

     

     

     FACTORY RESET OR SIDELOAD FIRMWARE UPDATE DO NOT HELP.

     

    Still no menu but Store page can be restored if the correct firmware installed 

    But next update create a no menu loop- 5x meta button no longer works-

     and need to side load any firmware again.

     

    Also Browser can be accessed- settings-help -meta support -scroll down middle left-youtube icon -sign in -terms at bottom -faq at top -scroll down google left bottom. And then browsing can be used one page back forth.

      I found a workaround but u have to do it everytime u restart the headset, enable developer mode and try this command 

      adb shell pm clear com.oculus.vrshell

      It restores full functionality. This is a firmware issue that must be adressed by meta, since it seems to be that the firmware is corrupted and it needs to be reinstalled but we don't have root access to do it ourselves.


  • The whole process is a bit of a pain in the ass but once you set it up, it's easy to get the headset running.

    Then you need to install adb drivers for quest https://developers.meta.com/horizon/downloads/package/oculus-adb-drivers/

    Afterwards you need to add the folder where you installed adb to path for that you need to go here ( here's a yt tutorial on how to add folders to path https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGRw1bgb1gU )

    this is the folder i had to add C:\Users\asdf\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools\adb.exe
    in ur case its gonna be the same probably but user name is gonna change because my username is asdf and your is probably something different.

    If you have done all of this succesfully, then here's the easy part.

    just press your windows key and type cmd to open the console
    connect your headset with a usb cable
    Type: adb devices 
    press enter
    type: adb shell pm clear com.oculus.vrshell
    press enter

    this is will make the menu pop up and everything is gonna work. Everytime you restart the headset you are gonna have to do the last step. I just copy paste it every time.

    Also keep in mind you can't really break your headset doing any of this, worst case scenario just factory reset.
    A permanent solution for this can only come from a Meta update sadly.

      Meta should RMA you, this is a firmware issue. In my case they told me they dont support my country (Argentina) so they wont RMA.

        I had to send mine if for repair they said but I don't have the receipt anymore so I can't

  • hi after some experimentation, what i found was it is an account issue:

    What i did was:

    create a new account, skipped the tutorial, and now i can access the universal menu

    when going back to my main account the issue still persists

      Interesting. I will give that a go. Do you lose access to your games with a new account though?
