Meta Quest 3 stuck in boot loop after factory reset (brand new device)

I am trying to get help with a Meta Quest 3 headset that belongs to my company. The device appears to be brand new but it has never successfully completed setup. When the headset is turned on, it shows the Meta logo and loading screen, then the screen goes black and the headset restarts, repeating this loop continuously. I accessed the boot menu using the Power + Volume Down buttons and attempted to boot the device normally using “Boot Device.” When that did not work, I performed a full factory reset from the boot menu, which completed and showed “erasing,” but the headset still returns to the Meta logo and continues the same restart loop. I also encountered the Android recovery screen showing “No command.” The serial number is 2G0YC5ZG5M00FG, but the Meta support site reports that support is not available for this device when I try to verify it. Because this headset was purchased by my company and stored in a cupboard for some time, I do not know the original retailer, order email, or Meta account used for the purchase. I would appreciate assistance with diagnosing the issue or arranging repair or replacement if the device is faulty.

  • OK, 2 things you should know.. The headset needs to connect to the Meta Horizon application on your Android phone or iPhone. You cannot set up your headset without a mobile phone. Maybe you are doing that but it's not clear from your post. The second thing you should know is that the serial number on the headset is not the one you should use.. It should be the serial number that is printed on the box. Reason is, the device and the two controllers have separate serial numbers so the one on the box covers the whole set up. Make sure that the controller batteries are still OK and full , as you will need the controllers in order to set up headset. I hope this helps.

  • Just to add, if you eventually want repair or replacement if my advice doesn't work, you need to contact Meta Support. This is a user advice forum. There are no Meta employees here.

  • Hi n1el 🙂

steve_40 gave you the direct link to support, so you don't need the serial number.....

.......but I highly recommend to search for the invoice or order details of the device purchase. Since it was never set up to your or your company's account, this is the only proof that you bought the device and that you are the the owner.
